Movie in Lake Tahoe combines snowboarding, surfing and environment

Event Date:
October 23, 2015 - 7:00pm

Local Freshies and Beyond Boarding are hosting the U.S. premier of the movie, Northern Grease, at South Lake Tahoe's Himmel Haus on Friday, October 23 at 8 p.m.

Northern Grease is an independent documentary that tells a story of snowboarders and surfers learning the real social and environmental impacts of resource extraction in Northern Canada. The Beyond Boarding crew gives us an in depth look at what’s possible when we all set out to achieve a common goal, no matter what the opposition.

The tour is all about bringing the community together to address environmental issues facing Lake Tahoe. Long time snowboarder and environmentalist Mike Basich will be presenting how he got involved, living off the grid and the hot topic of the tiny house.

Sierra at Tahoe will be giving away lift tickets and there will be raffle prizes including a new GNU snowboard.

The Lake Tahoe Tour of the movie is a fundraiser for Beyond Boarding and the Keep Tahoe Blue (League to Save Lake Tahoe) organizations. The film will be shown three times at the lake:
