SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, California – The Saturday Show of Support Series continues with a “Sound and Vision” celebration of Art and Music on Record Store Day at Keynote Used Records and Books, 2660 Lake Tahoe Blvd., in support of the Tahoe Art League. Please join us from 11 am to 5 pm on Saturday, August 29th for a masked and socially distanced viewing of works by Tahoe Art League member Cherie Pinsky and a live performance by Turtle Park, featuring former Turtle’s guitarist Al Nichol and Park Kinnear on 12 and six-string guitar.

Please join Make Tahoe Records at Scott Forrest Fine Art Studio on Saturday, August 1 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for The Art and Music of Yvonne McGrath in the premiere of “Sound and Vision.” This is a series of introductions to the work of visual artists and the reciprocal connections of music and their art.

In the spirit of reciprocity, a portion of the proceeds from sales of Yvonne McGrath’s work and vinyl from the Make Tahoe Records pop-up exhibit will be donated to the Tahoe Art League as part of the “Saturday Show of Support” series.

This Saturday, July 11, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., join Make Tahoe Records at Scott Forrest Fine Art Studio to help Tahoe's very own Tahoe Arts Alliance. Make Tahoe Records will be featuring an exhibit of "Freshly Groomed Vinyl", a curated collection of freshies on vinyl including new releases from independent and alternative artists. The Tahoe Network of Fire Adapted Communities (Tahoe Network), with generous support from the Tahoe Fund, is hosting a free virtual screening of the award-winning documentary Wilder than Wild: Fire, Forests, and the Future through the Tahoe Art Haus & Cinema from June 5 - June 11, 2020.

Wilder than Wild is a one-hour documentary that reveals how fire suppressioand climate change have exposed Western landscapes to large, high-intensity wildfires. The film goes on to explore strategies that are being developed to help mitigate the impact of these fires.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Many nonprofits have had to cancel their fundraisers due to the coronavirus, but the ladies of the Soroptimist International of Tahoe Sierra (SITS) club in South Lake Tahoe weren't going to let the virus stop them.

Their 31t annual Elegant Evening was slated to be held at Harrah's Tahoe on April 18 with a sit-down dinner, live music, and dancing, raffle, and auction. The venue closed and restrictions on meeting in groups of over 10 people were created, so what do you do with an event that brings together 500 community members?

Move it online, of course.

Every Second Saturday, Tahoe Art Walk takes place all along Tahoe’s South Shore from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. This fun, free, self-guided local art tour returns March 14th to bring you new art and new events. SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Lake Tahoe Community College invites one and all to a free closing reception for its three current art exhibits on Saturday, March 14 from 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Come enjoy beautiful art, free refreshments, and live music courtesy of the Reno Swing Set! The opening ceremonies were previously canceled due to snow.

The "Winter Show", opens December 5th and will be up through Feb. 24. Artists will be at the Opening celebration, during the Tahoe Art Walk on Dec.14, to describe their process and take questions. Noah Brown will be doing a print making demonstration, also. We are open Thurs thru Monday, 11 am to 4 pm.

The City of South Lake Tahoe and Tahoe Arts Alliance are partnering for an art gallery reception on Monday, December 2 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at City Hall located at 1901 Lisa Maloff Way, South Lake Tahoe.

The free art reception is open to the public and will include a meet and greet with displayed artists and city officials, including this quarter's artist, Regine Bandel. Bandel will be presenting her watercolor landscapes and will also be speaking at the event.

Join us for the premiere of the Second Saturday Tahoe Art Walk. A number of venues on the South Shore will be open from 4 to 8 pm on September 14, October 12, November 9, and December 14, 2019 hosting special events for the Tahoe Art Walk.

Join the Tahoe Art League from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 18 for the opening of the newly remodeled Tahoe Art League Art Center at 3062 Lake Tahoe Blvd., South Lake Tahoe.

Meet exhibiting artists including LoRita Ungar, Jeanette Reed-Lawson, David Foster, Rasjad Hopkins, Ellen Nunes, Bryan Yerian, and Colleen Sidey.

This event is free, open to the public, and kid-friendly.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Celebrate creativity along Ski Run Boulevard on Sunday, June 2 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. during the inaugural Tahoe ArtFest.

The Tahoe Arts Alliance is bringing the event to South Lake Tahoe with visual and performing arts, films, chalk art, and a Battle of the Bands, all in one day.

Entrance to the festival though drink passports can be purchased.

Participants in El Dorado County Wellness Center programs will have a chance to show off their artistic skills in the “Each Mind Matters” art exhibit hosted by the Tahoe Art League. The exhibit is at Lake Tahoe Community College April 29 – May 3, in recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month.

The art that will be on display has been created through Art Angels, a program of the Tahoe Art League.

Join the City of South Lake Tahoe and Tahoe Arts Alliance for an art gallery reception on Monday, October 15 at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall, located at 1901 Airport Road.

The Tahoe Arts Alliance connects artists, businesses and organizations on the South Shore, and the City’s lobby serves as a blank canvas to display local artists. The art is rotated throughout the year and all art will be available for purchase. The City Art Gallery reception will include a meet and greet with displaying artists and city officials.

The 2018 Tahoe Pride Art Show, "Love is a National Treasure," shines light on the diversity of our community and is opening this month at the Benko Art Gallery. All are invited to the opening event on Saturday, June 30 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. to celebrate our most precious national treasure: LOVE. Work from Tahoe artists Scott Forrest, Shelley Zentner, Red Stickman, Catherine Schoen, Hayden Tencher, and emerging artists from South Tahoe High School will be on display. Local musician Hailie Hay will be performing new music. This event is free and open to the public. All are welcome.

The Tahoe Art League will be presenting two South Lake Tahoe artists and one local art car owner and their Burning Man art at their next business meeting to be held on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

There will be a short meeting prior to the presentation. The artists will present photos and stories of their Burning Man art projects and will be available for questions.

The free presentation will be held in the Lake Tahoe Community College Board Room/Aspen Room.

The community is warmly invited to a trio of free artist receptions and exhibit openings at Lake Tahoe Community College on Thursday, Jan. 18 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.. Come and enjoy the art along with free refreshments with your fellow art lovers.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Local artist Malcolm Tibbetts will be giving a lecture to members of the public as part of the Lake Tahoe Community College Art Club's Visiting Artist Series on Friday, November 3 at 5:30 p.m. in the school's room F101.

Tibbetts primarily works with wood and has been featured during the Tahoe Art League's annual Studio Tour. He has donated several large sculptures to LTCC that can be found around campus.

A reception to unveil the new art gallery at City Hall in South lake Tahoe will be held on Monday, June 12 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The public is invited to this free event.

The City and Tahoe Arts Alliance (TAA) have teamed up on the project which will bring work of local artists to the walls at the entrance of City Hall at the airport. Their art will be rotated throughout the year and all art will be available for purchase.

The new art gallery reception will include a meet and greet with displaying artists and city officials.

The exhibit is in recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month and will be kicked off with with an artist's reception and awards ceremony in the school's Commons on May 1 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The public is invited to attend.

Local arts organization, Tahoe Art League, has long been serving Tahoe artists and promoting the arts to feed hearts and minds in the south shore. On February 20, the Art League fed the hungry of our community by sponsoring Bread & Broth’s Monday Meal at St. Theresa Grace Hall.

Most people who drive through South Lake Tahoe know Marcus Ashley Gallery by the large wind sculptures outside their Village Center location near Stateline, but a step inside shows so much more.

Museum quality, limited editions, world famous artists, and "wow" are just a few words that come to mind as one enters the doors at the gallery. Each turn treats the eye with beauty and wonder, and anticipation what is around the next bend.

Barton Health grants were distributed to nine South Lake Tahoe organizations who address the most pressing health needs of the community: mental health, substance abuse and access to health care services.

During a recent luncheon, grants were handed out to Live Violence Free, Lake Tahoe Unified School District, National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) - El Dorado Chapter, SOS Outreach, South Tahoe Family Resource Center, Tahoe Art League, Tahoe Magic, Tahoe Turning Point, and Tahoe Youth & Family Services.
