County law enforcement seeks public's help in solving cold case disappearance

Charles Thompson of Fair Play, California has been missing since 2015 and the El Dorado County Cold Case Take Force is asking for help from the public in solving the case.

El Dorado County District Attorney's Office has released a video (see in story). Their last Cold Case video and story about the 2013 murder of South Lake Tahoe gas station attendant Manpreet Singh generated many new leads and they hope the same happens with Thompson's story.

Charles Thompson lived in Fair Play for over 40 years. His family owned a large ranch in the area and he attended local schools. Charles worked as a logger in the area for many years and was living with his father on the family ranch in October of 2015. They were in what is believed to be this female’s late model white SUV. Charles has not been seen or heard from since October 2, 2015.

A missing person report was filed by Charles’ family after he did not return home. Deputies and detectives from El Dorado County Sheriff's Office began an investigation into happened to Charles. They were able to track Charles movements on October 2 and learned he visited Gray’s Market in Somerset as well as the El Dorado Savings Bank in Diamond Springs, Calif. From there it was learned that Charles checked into the Best Western Inn in Jackson, California. Employees there remembered Charles and said that he was with a white female. Detectives learned that Charles checked out of his room on October 3 at 12:30 PM. Charles’
