Burglary suspect fills out job application and eats McFlurry before committing crime

This story could be straight out of the "dumb criminals" shows on television.

On October 23, the Trailhead Lodge located at 3892 Lake Tahoe Blvd reported a burglary from their locked and unattended lobby. Officer Hounsell from the South Lake Tahoe Police Department responded and watched surveillance footage from the motel.

A man was seen forcing open the locked lobby door and stealing money from behind the counter. Hounsell observed the suspect carrying a McFlurry ice cream container from the nearby McDonald's so the officer went over to the fast food restaurant to view their surveillance film.

Footage showed the suspect eating the McFlurry and filling out a job application at McDonald's prior to going to the Trailhead Lodge to burglarize it.

Officers collected the job application as evidence and identified the suspect as Louis Fiori, Jr. of South Lake Tahoe. Officers attempted to locate Fiori at the time but were unsuccessful.

Two days later, on October 26, SLTPD located Fiori back at McDonald's where he was interviewed and subsequently arrested for the burglary at the Trailhead Lodge.

At this time police do NOT believe this burglary is related to other burglaries previously reported on in the area of the “Y” (Oct 22 & 23). Fiori was booked for burglary at the El Dorado County Jail.
