South Lake Tahoe man arrested as suspect in local home burglaries

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - A local man has been arrested as a suspect in two residential burglaries in the 1100 block of Fairway Avenue in South Lake Tahoe.

At 6:40 a.m. on March 9, the South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) was contacted by a citizen who called 911 after hearing glass breaking from a neighbor's house. The caller's husband walked outside and said he saw a suspect walking away from the area. When the suspect was confronted by the husband, he fled on foot. Officers found only broken glass and no entry was made.

Also on March 9, two separate burglaries occurred in the same neighborhood around the same time frame.

At one residence, police say the front door glass appeared to have been punched in. Inside they found a TV on the floor with blood on it. Police said the house had been ransacked, clothing was thrown around and blood was left on the walls and floor and a TV was missing.

At a second residence, there was a TV laying face down in the driveway. The front door was open and blood droplets were found throughout the residence. All the bedrooms appeared to have been ransacked, SLTPD Lt. Shannon Laney said in a press release.

On March 10, officers were contacted by a relative of the person suspected as being responsible for the previous day's burglaries. This relative told SLTPD they found bloody clothing and a TV in the suspect's bedroom, the same one reported missing from the previous burglary.

The suspect was identified as 18-year-old Jacob Forsberg of South Lake Tahoe. He was located and arrested by SLTPD on March 11.

Forsberg has been booked into the El Dorado County Jail on two counts of residential burglary, both felonies, and one count of vandalism. His bail has been set at $102,000.
