Comedy "Leading Ladies" hits the LTCC stage in November

They call it a mixture of Monty Python, Shakespeare's Twelfth Night and Some Like it Hot. The comedy farce, Leading Ladies, is being presented by the Theatre Arts Department at Lake Tahoe Community College November 14 through November 23 at the Duke Theatre on campus.

The Leading Ladies referenced in the play’s title are, in fact, two Shakespearean actors who are so down on their luck that they are performing "Scenes from Shakespeare" on the Moose Lodge circuit in the Amish country of Pennsylvania. When they hear that an old lady in York, PA is about to die and leave her fortune to her two long-lost English nieces, they scheme to pass themselves off as the women and get their share of the cash. Romantic entanglements abound, especially when Leo falls head-over-petticoats in love with the old lady’s vivacious niece, Meg, who’s engaged to the local minister. Meg knows that there’s a big, wide world out there, but it’s not until she meets “Maxine and Stephanie” that she finally gets a real taste of it.

If you're ready for some laughs, put Leading Ladies on your calendar. Performances of Leading Ladies are November 14, 15, 20, 21 and 22 at 7:30 p.m., with Sunday matinees on November 16 and 23 at 2 p.m. High school and college students with a current school I.D. are invited to attend the show for free on Thursday, November 20, while seating is available.
