Winter Weather Advisory for Lake Tahoe Saturday-Sunday

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for the Lake Tahoe Basin from 7:00 p.m. Saturday, November 7 to 10:00 a.m. Sunday, November 8.

A total of 3"-6" of snow is expected with upper elevations seeing up to 10" of snow.

There are current chain controls on SR88 from Silver Lake to Picketts Junction but the new storm approaches expect chain requirements on all main highways and passes.

The three-day forecast for South Lake Tahoe from the National Weather Service in Reno:

Today - Scattered snow showers, mainly after 10am. Partly sunny, with a high near 41. Calm wind becoming west around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Tonight - Scattered snow showers before 10pm, then snow after 10pm. The snow could be heavy at times. Low around 22. Southwest wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.

Sunday - Snow. The snow could be heavy at times. High near 32. West wind around 5 mph becoming northeast in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.

Sunday Night - Mostly cloudy, with a low around 12. Northeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm.

Monday - Mostly sunny, with a high near 39. East wind around 5 mph.

Monday Night - Partly cloudy, with a low around 19. West wind around 5 mph becoming calm.
