South Tahoe Girls Soccer Team goes for 4th State Title Saturday

This just may be the year of South Lake Tahoe girls soccer dominance. One week after the Whittell warriors won the state title for Division III schools, the Lady Vikings will try to win one of their own.

On Friday night, the South Tahoe High Varsity Girls beat the #1 seed from the South, Faith Lutheran by a score of 2-1. Junior Ashley Schouten scored both goals for STHS. Their nemesis from the North, Truckee, lost their match Friday against Sierra Vista High 1-0.

The Nevada State Champion for Division 1-A will be crowned after Saturday's noon matchup between South Tahoe High and Sierra Vista High of Spring Valley, NV.

On the Division 1-A boys side, Truckee beat Sunrise Mountain 4-2 while Chaparral defeated Sparks, 2-0. Truckee will play Chaparral at 10 a.m. Saturday for the State Title.

The Division 1-A state playoffs are being played at Heritage Park in Henderson, NV.
