El Dorado County schools superintendent Jeremy Meyers submitted his resignation to the school board Monday, and it was accepted after Meyers was arrested for two DUIs this year.
Meyers was arrested about 2 p.m. on Nov. 4 after crashing his pickup truck into a utility box on Green Valley Road and had a blood alcohol level of 0.19 percent, according to the California Highway Patrol.
"(The officer) ultimately placed Jeremy Meyers under arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol, and he was booked into custody at the El Dorado County Jail," said CHP spokesman Quinn Cuthbertson.
No one was hurt in the crash.
That was the second time in five months Meyers was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
In June, Meyers pleaded no contest and received a sentence of probation and four days of house arrest after blowing a 0.16 percent blood alcohol level, officials said.
