COVID-19 case update for Lake Tahoe area counties

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County health officials say another 97 residents have tested positive for COVID-19 since yesterday. Of those, 21 are in El Dorado Hills, ten in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, three in North County, two in South County, 14 in Greater Placerville, eight in Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz, five in Diamond Springs/El Dorado, and 33 in Lake Tahoe region. There are three positive results awaiting address confirmation.

One of those new cases, six are under the age of 18, 50 are aged 18-49, 23 are aged 50-64, and 18 aged 65 or older.

Another 353 people were tested for the coronavirus and 256 negative tests results were received.

There have been another 13 assumed recoveries with 838 assumed active cases.

There are currently five COVID-19 patients in the Marshall or Barton hospital ICUs and no suspected cases hospitalized.

The county moved into the purple tier November 17.

To move to the yellow/minimal tier, the average daily rate of new cases needs to be less than one per 100,000 residents, and positivity rate of less than two percent for the previous two weeks. This cannot be done until being in the orange tier for three weeks at a minimum.

The County dashboard shows cases by episode date, not by the date El Dorado County Public Health was notified about the new case. Episode date is the earliest of the following dates: (symptom onset date, diagnosis date, specimen collection date, date received, or date of death) and serves as the best approximation of the date of infection.

The 7-day positivity rate for El Dorado County is 3.7 percent positivity and the 14-day rate of new cases is 171 (+21) (these figures do not include today's data).

The Lake Tahoe region of the county is in the High Tier (case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 100) and is joined there by El Dorado/Diamond Springs, Shingle Springs/Cameron Park/Rescue, El Dorado Hills, Placerville and now Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz. North County is in the Moderate Tier (case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 26-99). South County in the only area in the low tier (25 or less per 100,000 for last 14 days).

County-wide there have been 1,798 cases with 684 of those in the Lake Tahoe area (including South Lake Tahoe, Meyers, Strawberry, and Tahoma).

We are reporting 45 new cases and 35 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. 20 of these additional 55 new cases are from the Warm Springs Correctional Facility in Carson City. This brings the total number of cases to 2,738, with 2,008 recoveries and 27 deaths; 703 cases remain active.

Their seven-day test rate is 5.7 percent positive, and average daily case rate for last 7 days is 13.0 per 100,000. Seven- day increase is 10.0 percent, 14-day increase is 21.1 percent.
