COVID-19 case update for Lake Tahoe area counties

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County health officials say another 49 residents have tested positive for COVID-19 since yesterday. Of those, 18 are in El Dorado Hills, nine in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, one in North County, two in Greater Placerville, four in Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz, and 15 in Lake Tahoe region. There are three positive results awaiting address confirmation.

One of those new cases, two are under the age of 18, 22 are aged 18-49, 19 are aged 50-64, and six aged 65 or older.

Another 200 people were tested for the coronavirus and 151 negative tests results were received.

There have been another 16 assumed recoveries with 416 assumed active cases.

There are currently five COVID-19 patients in the Marshall or Barton hospital ICUs and no suspected cases hospitalized.

The county moved into the purple tier November 17.

To move to the yellow/minimal tier, the average daily rate of new cases needs to be less than one per 100,000 residents, and positivity rate of less than two percent for the previous two weeks. This cannot be done until being in the orange tier for three weeks at a minimum.

The County dashboard shows cases by episode date, not by the date El Dorado County Public Health was notified about the new case. Episode date is the earliest of the following dates: (symptom onset date, diagnosis date, specimen collection date, date received, or date of death) and serves as the best approximation of the date of infection.

The 7-day positivity rate for El Dorado County is 4.2 percent positivity and the 14-day rate of new cases is 194 (+23) (these figures do not include today's data).

The Lake Tahoe region of the county is in the High Tier (case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 100) and is joined there by El Dorado/Diamond Springs, Shingle Springs/Cameron Park/Rescue, El Dorado Hills, Placerville and now Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz, North County and South County are in the Moderate Tier (case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 26-99). No region is in the low tier (25 or less per 100,000 for last 14 days).

County-wide there have been 1,847 cases with 699 of those in the Lake Tahoe area (including South Lake Tahoe, Meyers, Strawberry, and Tahoma).

We are reporting 55 new cases and 40 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. 19 of these additional 55 new cases are from the Warm Springs Correctional Facility in Carson City. This brings the total number of cases to 2,793, with 2,048 recoveries and 27 deaths; 718 cases remain active.

In Carson City there are currently 45 people hospitalized with 8 of them in the ICU.

In Douglas County there are currently 11 people hospitalized with COVID-19 with 7 of them in the ICU.

Washoe County

The Regional Information Center is reporting 610 new COVID-19 cases and no new deaths in Washoe County since yesterday.

Their seven-day test rate is 6.1 percent positive, and average daily case rate for last 7 days is 15.1 per 100,000. Seven-day increase is 9.7 percent, 14-day increase is 19.6 percent.
