COVID-19 case update for Lake Tahoe area counties

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County health officials say another 31 residents have tested positive for COVID-19 since yesterday. Of those, ten are in El Dorado Hills, one in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, three in North County, four in Greater Placerville, one in Diamond Springs/El Dorado, and 13 in Lake Tahoe region (One fewer "address awaiting confirmation"- the count by region will only add up to 31 if there's a "-1" from the "address awaiting confirmation" category. Right now the County currently awaiting for address confirmation for 2 cases).

One of those new cases, 2 are under the age of 18, 19 are aged 18-49, 7 are aged 50-64, and 33 aged 65 or older.

Another 278 people were tested for the coronavirus and 247 negative tests results were received.

There have been another 13 assumed recoveries with 473 assumed active cases.

There are currently eight COVID-19 patients hospitalized in Barton hospital with four of them in the ICU and one suspected case hospitalized.

The county moved into the purple tier November 17.

To move to the yellow/minimal tier, the average daily rate of new cases needs to be less than one per 100,000 residents, and positivity rate of less than two percent for the previous two weeks. This cannot be done until being in the orange tier for three weeks at a minimum.

The County dashboard shows cases by episode date, not by the date El Dorado County Public Health was notified about the new case. Episode date is the earliest of the following dates: (symptom onset date, diagnosis date, specimen collection date, date received, or date of death) and serves as the best approximation of the date of infection.

The 7-day positivity rate for El Dorado County is 5.8 percent positivity and the 14-day rate of new cases is 218 (+16) (these figures do not include today's data).

The Lake Tahoe region of the county is in the High Tier (case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 100) and is joined there by El Dorado/Diamond Springs, Shingle Springs/Cameron Park/Rescue, El Dorado Hills, Placerville and now Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz and North County, South County is in the Moderate Tier (case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 26-99). No region is in the low tier (25 or less per 100,000 for last 14 days).

County-wide there have been 1,930 cases with 723 of those in the Lake Tahoe area (including South Lake Tahoe, Meyers, Strawberry, and Tahoma).

Quad-Counties - Carson City, Douglas, Storey, Lyon

Carson City Health and Human Services (CCHHS) is reporting three additional deaths due to COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. Two of the individuals were Lyon County residents and one was a Carson City resident. CCHHS is also reporting 34 new cases and 25 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. This brings the total number of cases to 2,869, with 2,119 recoveries and 30 deaths; 720 cases remain active.

Carson City Health and Human Services is working to identify close risk contacts to prevent further spread of the disease.

In Carson City there are currently 45 people hospitalized with 8 of them in the ICU. There is 1 suspected case of COVID-19 in the hospital and 3 suspected in the ICU.

In Douglas County there are currently 9 people hospitalized with COVID-19 with 1 of them in the ICU along with 1 suspected case in the ICU.

Washoe County

The Regional Information Center is reporting 312 new COVID-19 cases and five new deaths in Washoe County since yesterday.

There have been 45 new cases of confirmed COVID-19 in Placer County since yesterday.

Lake Tahoe area cases - 57 (+1) are in Tahoe City, 166 (+1) in Kings Beach, 19 (+1) in Olympic Valley, 38 (-1) in Truckee, 18 (+0) in Carnelian Bay.

Their seven-day test rate is 6.2 percent positive, and average daily case rate for last 7 days is 16.8 per 100,000. Seven-day increase is 8.8 percent, 14-day increase is 19.9 percent.
