Bread & Broth provides Thanksgiving bags of food for over 500 local residents

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The volunteers at Bread & Broth packed bags of food for the community Monday, bags full of food for not only a Thanksgiving meal, but for meals through the week.

From 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on November 23, almost 200 people picked up bags for their families containing a turkey breast, yams, green beans, rolls, stuffing, pumpkin pie, sparkling apple cider, fruit, vegetables, eggs, milk and much more. Those bags of food went to feed 549 individuals in the South Lake Tahoe community.

For those enjoying the food who didn't have access to a kitchen, cooked chicken was given to them in their bags along with items that don't need preparation.

Normally, Bread & Broth provides a hot Thanksgiving meal, but due to restrictions brought on by the pandemic, they were unable to provide that this year. Instead, just as they've done since March, bags of food to take home are given.

Every Monday and Friday, Bread & Broth volunteers give out nutritious food to the community and on Wednesdays their Bread & Broth 4 Kids program provides weekly bags of food for pre-school and school age children.

Bread & Broth would like to thank the community for their generous donations to put on the festive holiday meal. Donations came in person and through their website and all was greatly appreciate.
