Sierra at Tahoe Opens on Friday

Cold weather and snow this week is allowing Sierra-at-Tahoe® Resort to open for the 2013-14 season on Friday, December 6, 2013 with early season conditions and very limited terrain. The ski resort will operate the Easy Rider Express chairlift which will give skiers and snowboarders access to the right half of Broadway trail. This is a green run and will have small to medium rail features, giving guests a chance to get their park legs back underneath them. Forecasts show possible snow showers throughout the weekend and into next week, potentially allowing Sierra Resort to open more trails, conditions pending.

“Winter has yet to kick into high gear, and with limited snowmaking we rely on Mother Nature. We definitely have early season conditions on the mountain,” said John Rice, General Manager. “But we know our skiers and riders are hungry to get those first couple of runs in and take a few laps through the Broadway terrain park. As we get more snow, more terrain will open.”

This is a great time for passholders to come pick up their season passes or daily ticket buyers to test their abilities for only $40 a day for adults or young adults and $20 for kids. Limited operations on opening day will include children’s ski school lessons, limited adult ski school operations, ice cold refreshing beer and food in The Pub and Mama’s Kitchen, available gear in the rental shops, and great holiday shopping at Sierra Mt. Sports.

Sierra Resort guests are asked to be aware and obey all base area signage as the new base area plaza remains under construction. Pathways will guide guests from the parking lots to the snow.

Guests are encouraged to use the hashtag, “#gameon” when posting about opening day and opening week at Sierra-at-Tahoe. The hashtag can be added when posting to social networks such as Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. See you on the mountain and #gameon.
