South Lake Tahoe hockey team raising funds for international finals in Canada

The Lake Tahoe Grizzlies Peewee Team is the 2015 Pacific District Regional Silver Stick Champions in the Peewee B division which has earned them a spot at the International Finals in Ontario, Canada. In order to help the young boys and girls with travel expenses, the team has started a fundraising campaign selling "Tahoe Strong" T-Shirts.

All 14 team members have excelled not only on the ice, but in the classroom according to fundraiser organizer Tye Watson. They players come from South Lake Tahoe, Incline Village, Truckee, Reno, Carson City and Minden.

"Tahoe Strong" was a name given to logo wear sold to help support South Tahoe High graduate Kevin Sullivan who has ALS. Classmates and the community came together to support each other as they supported their friend. The group also started a scholarship campaign for future STHS graduates.

Now, the Tahoe Strong community is selling the shirts to support the hockey team. The proceeds will go towards their travel expenses and registration fees.

There will also be a "Tahoe Strong" Day on January 6, the day before the Grizzlies leave for Canada.

Watson is encouraging group pictures with everyone wearing Tahoe Strong shirts and want to engage the schools as well as parents, and community.
