American Legion to host annual Christmas Cheer toy giveaway

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The Christmas Cheer toy distribution for the holidays will take place at the American Legion Hall December 19-20, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. All households must be preregistered to receive the packages.

Christmas Cheer is still in need of new, unwrapped toy donations (please no toy guns or toy knives) for the toy distribution, especially for older children and teens. Gift suggestions for older children and teens include warm hats, socks and gloves, hair accessories, beauty products and cosmetics, toiletries, grooming appliances (e.g. blow dryers, curling irons, electric razors, hair trimmers) and clothing, food or sporting good gift cards (e.g. TJ Maxx, Ross, Big 5, Starbucks).

The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 795 of South Lake Tahoe will host this year’s event. The hall is located at 2748 Lake Tahoe Blvd.

For eligibility requirements and additional information, call Christmas Cheer at 530-542-4934, or stop by 1120 Third St., South Lake Tahoe Tuesday – Thursday from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

For more information on how to donate ahead of the toy distribution, contact American Legion Auxiliary Secretary, Sandy McKnight at 530-318-3874. In addition, toys may be dropped off at the American Legion Hall, Wed. – Sun., from 4 to 8 p.m. or at Christmas Cheer, Tue. – Thu., from 11 – 2 p.m.
