Bay area residents arrested in Stateline on burglary charges

8:00PM Update 12/18/17: After the trio's arrest, detectives from the South Lake Tahoe Police Department served a search warrant on a motel room at Motel 6 on Highway 50, locating a significant amount of stolen property that had recently been reported stolen in Douglas County. They also located numerous items that may have been stolen, but were not previously reported. .

DCSO and SLTPD are seeking the public’s help with identifying any additional stolen property. STATELINE, NEV. - Three residents from the Bay Area were arrested in the parking lot of MontBleu Resort Casino early Saturday morning after law enforcement responded to the report of a vehicle burglary.

According to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office (DCSO), they were called to the South Shore casino at 1:45 a.m. on December 16, 2017 on the burglary call. Upon arrival they detained Emmanuel Montes-Fonseca, 32, from San Francisco, Calif., Sonia Chavez, 28, from Kelseyville, Calif., and Sandra Vilchis, 25, from El Sobrante, Calif. All three were recently staying at Motel 6 in South Lake Tahoe.

After reviewing video surveillance from MontBleu and receiving witness statement, the three were arrested for burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary and child endangerment.

There were two young children in the suspect's vehicle who placed with Nevada Child Protective Services.

The suspects have a bail of $5,000.00 each.

There have been several vehicle burglaries recently in the Stateline area, according to investigators who are working to identify if the burglaries are connected. They are working together with the South Lake Tahoe Police Department on these other cases.
