Heavenly Village Turkey Drive gathers 350 turkeys for Christmas Cheer

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Christmas is going to be merrier for families on the south shore after an outpouring of support for those less fortunate this holiday season. There have been toy and food drives, and one of those recently held was by The Shops at Heavenly Village and Dreu Murin Productions.

The need this year has been greater than ever and many local businesses who are struggling themselves made it a priority to help. Turkeys are always in need for the holiday and last year Christmas Cheer struggled. Heavenly Village and Gary Casteel Jr., and Murin joined together donated 200 turkeys in 2019 and this year they were able to get 350 turkeys for Christmas Cheer with the help of Kenny Curtzwiler and the Northern Nevada Confederation of Clubs and the brotherhood motorcycle club, Fire and Ice Restaurant, Village Toy Store, Ted Kennedy, Azul Latin Kitchen, South of North Brewery, Gym Love, Ten Crows BBQ, Tahoe Club 100, Jackie Gilpin Realty, California Burger, Social House, Driftwood Cafe.

“Dreu, Gary, Kenny and so many local businesses really delivered again this year," said long time Christmas Cheer board member Tom Davis. "We couldn’t have done it without them and I cant express the appreciation we have especially during these trying times.”

Since Christmas Cheer's offices don't have large freezer space, Grocery Outlet helped them out by storing the turkeys until they were given away this past week.

Christmas Cheer is located at 1120 3rd St, South Lake Tahoe. Starting back on January 5, 2021, they are open Tuesday-Thursday, 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
