2020 starts off with sunny days in South Lake Tahoe after windy end to 2019

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The first week of the new decade looks to be a calm one with some sunny days, but first, there will be some wind and a chance of snow to deal with.

There is a Lake Wind Advisory in effect from 7:00 a.m. Monday to 7:00 a.m. Tuesday. Expect winds from the east 10-20 mph with gusts 30-35 mph. Waves on the lake should be 1-3 feet.

A weak winter storm will bring light rain and snow to the Sierra and western Nevada overnight into Monday, though a dusting is the most expected. The first few days of 2020 will feature milder temperatures as flat ridging will allow for weaker inversions and keep most precipitation chances farther north. Temperatures will be seasonal into the beginning of January.
