MTV acquires SnowGlobe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - It started as a dream of Chad Donnelly's after growing up in Colorado and attending Denver Broncos football games in the cold and snow. He thought to himself, if people will attend a football game and sit in the snow, why not a concert?

That observation turned into an internationally recognized event in South Lake Tahoe where electronic music fans have headed to for three days, December 29-31, since 2011. In that first year, 28,995 tickets were over the three days and it grossed $1.5 million.

16th annual Tahoe Adventure Film Festival headed to town

The Tahoe Adventure Film Festival (TAFF) is like no other film festival in the world and the public is invited to find out all about it when they celebrate their annual event on December 8, 2018 at MontBleu Resort, where it all began 16 years ago.

This is not your typical stuffy film festival. This fun high-energy evening will fuel your passion for action and ignite your senses for adventure. It highlights the best adventure sports films of the year and showcases the action sports world's best talent.

Jamie Anderson nominated for 7th ESPY award; Public invited to vote

Olympic Gold Medalist Jamie Anderson from South Lake Tahoe has been nominated for two more ESPY awards in a year dominated by snowboarders, at least in the Olympic and action sport categories. She is up against fellow Olympian Chloe Kim for Best Female Action Sports Athlete, an award Anderson won in 2012, 2014 and 2016, and nominated for in 2007.

Anderson is also nominated for Best U.S. Female Olympian, an award she previously won in 2014. She is up against Kim for this award as well.

ESPY stands for Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly.

Super Snake at Sierra-at-Tahoe to be featured on ABC special

A special course created on the snow at Sierra-at-Tahoe will be featured on the October 16 edition of the action sports show, ABC's 'World of X Games.'

SuperSnake, a cutting-edge hybrid course on snow that combines snowboarding and skateboarding, will unveil the never-been-done build out and completely unconventional riding experiences that brought elite skateboarders and snowboarders together to ride alongside each other for the first time ever at Sierra-at-Tahoe near South Lake Tahoe. The film is 22 minutes long and will showcase not only this new snowsport, but Lake Tahoe slopes.

Jamie Anderson wins ESPY for Female Action Sports Athlete of the Year

Olympic Gold medalist Jamie Anderson of Meyers won the ESPY Wednesday night for Best Female Action Sport Athlete, her third year winning an award honoring the nation's top athletes.

The Sierra-at-Tahoe snowboarder took to Instagram after the ceremony in Los Angeles. "So thankful on so many levels," Anderson said. "I wouldn't be where I am today without the love, support & encouragement of my family, friends & of course my sponsors! Thanks for making my Dreams a reality! Unbelievably grateful."

Her name in on the list with Stephen Curry, LeBron James, Von Miller, Cam Newton, Kyle Busch and Roger Federer. South Lake Tahoe's Jamie Anderson was nominated this week by ESPN for a 2016 ESPY as "Best Female Action Sports Athlete."

Recreational opportunities in South Lake Tahoe is the focus of a nationwide advertising campaign in hopes of bringing more visitors to the area, and to encourage them to stay an extra day.

"Stay and Play Another Day" is the focus of the commercial that was just released on the cable sports channels of Altitude Sports and Entertainment, American Sports Network and several individual television stations in select markets.

Jamie Anderson in Dubai to promote city's action sports

XDubai, the city’s ambassador for action sports, has released a video series featuring professional surfer Sally Fitzgibbons and Olympic gold snowboarder Jamie Anderson paddle boarding, desert hiking, and engaging in wind tunnel inflight in Dubai.

Titled “Lifestyle Sessions,” the videos are meant to highlight Dubai’s outdoor and extreme sporting activities.

XDubai is the group behind videos of “Jetmen” Yves Rossy and Vince Reffet.
Anderson, who’s participated and won 12 medals, described Dubai as a “Disneyland for athletes.”

South Lake Tahoe's Jamie Anderson wins two ESPY Awards

Jamie Anderson of South Lake Tahoe won two awards at Wednesday night's ESPY awards in Los Angeles. She won the award for Best Female Action Sports Athlete and Best Female U.S. Olympian.

Anderson, the 23 year old who brought home a Gold Medal, also won the ESPY for Best Female Action Sports Athlete in 2012. She won inaugural Women's Slopestyle Event at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.

An ESPY Award is an accolade presented by the American cable television network ESPN to recognize individual and team athletic achievement and other sports-related performance.

Warren Miller film 'Flow State' arrives at Lake Tahoe

There's nothing like a great ski and board film to get primed for the winter season. At South Shore Lake Tahoe there's two coming events worth noting: Warren Miller’s 63rd annual film, “Flow State” will be shown at at MontBleu Resort Casino and Spa Nov. 29-30 as part of a 240-city tour.
This annual Miller-produced homage to all things skiing and boarding takes viewers to the top of the world’s most striking peaks in Norway, Austria, California, Switzerland and beyond.

Freestyle skiing trailblazer Sarah Burke dies after Jan. 10 training accident

Canadian freeskier Sarah Burke died Thursday in a Salt Lake City hospital, nine days after crashing at the bottom of the superpipe during a training run in Utah. Burke, who lived near Whistler in British Columbia, was 29. She was injured Jan. 10 while training at a personal sponsor event at the Park City Mountain resort.
Tests revealed Burke suffered "irreversible damage to her brain due to lack of oxygen and blood after cardiac arrest," according to a statement released by Burke's publicist, Nicole Wool.

Veteran halfpipe skier Sarah Burke sustained a serious head injury in a crash at Park City Mountain Resort Tuesday afternoon and was airlifted by helicopter to University Hospital in Salt Lake City, Powder Magazine reports.

Offenbacher talks Tahoe Adventure Film Festival and Flying Wild in Alaska
