Golden Bear Events presents the 2015 Annual Lake Tahoe Home and Garden Show and is offering Early Bird discounts for booth space through January 1, 2015. The show will be held on Friday, April 24th, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., and Saturday, April 25th, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The cost of a 10 x 10 foot space is $145.00 total for both days until January 1, 2015. Regular price is $195.00.

Heavenly Holidays reach their zenith on New Year’s Eve, when fire, lights and music fill the air. The Fire Groove fire dancers will be adeptly twirling rings of flame, while a photo booth, games and face-painting will be open to all. Live Band will perform an outdoor concert that will get the audience moving, and the “Fear-No-Ice” sculptors will get their saws buzzing for a special New Year’s Eve exhibition.

If you haven't made it to Azul Latin Kitchen yet it may be time to schedule a visit for lunch, dinner or a cocktail. The decorations are the bar are very creative and homey, including furniture hanging on the wall and crates as the light fixtures.

Azul opened in the Heavenly Village several weeks ago but they just had their official ribbon cutting and grand opening ceremony on November 7. Many people from the South Lake Tahoe business community stopped by to enjoy the food and drinks, many for the first time. A band played near the fire pit outside.

The Friends of the Library are excited to present Dream Spirit Baroque Band on December 13 at 11 a.m. Enjoy a morning of festive music featuring traditional Christmas tunes, and popular classics. This performance at the South Lake Tahoe Library is the perfect way to get into the spirit of the season. Refreshments will be served.

The event is free but we would love for you to bring non-perishable food items for donation to Christmas Cheer.

Members of the South Tahoe High Jazz Band have been invited by Chico State professor, and Director of Jazz Studies, Rocky Winslow to take part in an individualized, private, jazz clinic with himself and two other jazz all-stars: Paul Romaine and Mark Patterson (both of Convergence Jazz Sextet).

The students will also participate in a sound check on stage with the Jazz All Stars and the Chico State Jazz X-Press. That evening they are the invited, special guests at the Chico State Jazz X-Press Concert, followed by backstage mingling with the performers.

Halloween fun at the Divided Sky in South Lake Tahoe! The progressive bluegrass quartet from Portland, Student Loan Stringband returns to the Meyers hot spot for an evening of groovy, quirky, and lively genre-buster of a show.

Join the band at Divided Sky for a special night full of original tunes, favorite covers, and toe-steppin, boot-stompin jams!

Wear a costume, get a treat! Doors open at 8 p.m. and the cover charge is $10.

Air show officials have decided to drop the $10 entrance fee and offer free admission to all attendees for the 25th Annual Lake in the Sky Air Show this Saturday, September 20th from 8 a.m.- 4 p.m. at Tahoe Valley Airport in South Lake Tahoe.

Last year's air show was canceled due to heavy smoke from the Rim Fire. Officials are monitoring the King Fire's smoke and movement, but at this time there are no flight closures and the aerial performances and all on ground activities are still going to occur.

Rocker, reality star, philanthropist and front man for the enduring rock ’n’ roll band Poison, Bret Michaels, will bring all the roses and a generous supply of power ballads to Lake Tahoe’s MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa stage in a one-night-only, solo show, Saturday, Nov. 29.

On Sunday, August 17 Valhalla presents the final in the free Concert on the Lawn series. This is a special free kids concert featuring the acclaimed children’s act the Banana Slug String Band. Their music is original and full of inspiring positive messages about taking care of each other and the environment. Everyone is invited to bring a picnic and join sit on the Grand Lawn at Valhalla from noon to 2:00 p.m.

The 2nd Annual Meyers Mountain Bike Festival will take place on August 10, 2014 in the Divided Sky parking lot, located at 3200 US Highway 50. The festival kicks off with a “Triple Crown Ride” covering 30+ miles and a 5,200 elevation gain. Riders should arrive at the Divided Sky at 7:30 a.m. to register for the ride. A $25 donation will support the Tahoe Area Mountain Biking Association (TAMBA), and Clif Bar will have water and fueling stations along the ride.

Each year, during the second weekend of August, the lawns and buildings at the historic Baldwin and Pope Estates turn back the clocks to a time of jazz, prohibition, prosperity and innovation.

The annual Gatsby Festival will be held at Tallac Historic Site August 9-10. Those that attend the free event will find vintage cars, games, music, Maytag clothes washer demonstrations, a speakeasy, tours and vendors with food and vintage clothing. The popular afternoon tea on Sunday is already sold out.

Are you looking for a way to enjoy your Sunday afternoons? The "Jazz & Beyond: Carson City Music Festival" is offering free concerts in the Legislative Plaza between the State Capitol and the Legislature Building in Carson City on three Sundays: Aug. 3, Aug. 10, and Aug. 17, 2014. "Jazz & Beyond" is a yearly festival put on by the Mile High Jazz Band Assoc. and its sponsors. People can enjoy these family friendly "Jazz Picnics in Park" concerts in a pleasant atmosphere with shade trees and a bit of Nevada history.

The "Jazz & Beyond: Carson City Music Festival" is excited to present a "Jump-Jive" dance party on Saturday, August 9, 2014, from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. in the historic Ballroom in the Brewery Arts Center, 449 W. King Street. This Speakeasy Dance Party celebrates music, dance, and art. Tickets are $10 and admission includes light refreshments, a no-host bar, the killer seven-piece band Brass Knuckles, original artwork, and prizes. All are welcome; those age 21 and over need to bring an ID. Doors open at 7:00 p.m., and the dance band plays from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m.

The "Jazz & Beyond: Carson City Music Festival," in collaboration with Carson City, is proud to present five of several bands at the Nevada Sesquicentennial Fair in Fuji Park on Saturday, August 2. "Jazz & Beyond" runs from Aug. 1 to Aug. 17 and features over 50 events, mainly in the downtown Carson City area.

The five "Jazz & Beyond" bands at the Fair on August 2 are Sons of Slide Mountain, RVGS Tantalus, Lynne Colvig Latin Jazz, the Reno Jazz Orchestra with singer Jackie Landrum, and the St. Christopher Project, featuring the music of Tom Waits.

Thank you to all of those who joined us to kick start the summer season. A big thank you to Zephyr Cove Resort for hosting the Music on the Beach BAHM! this past Tuesday evening. As always, we had a great time at the resort. Offering picturesque lakefront entertainment, food and lodging, Zephyr Cove has something for everyone. We’d like to also thank local band Ike and Martin for providing the exceptional entertainment. Whether you are a water skier, paddleboarder, mountain biker, or hiker, you may engage your hip and core muscles more than you know. Experiencing pain in your lower back, hip, knee, or foot? Perhaps it’s your gluteus medius, a significant, but lesser known muscle.

Having recently read an article about the owners of the Barton Ranch property planning to tear down all the buildings as they rot and decay for the advancement of the Tahoe Valley Plan I felt I had to reply. Although I haven't read over that plan I am aware of the rich history of the Barton family who are clearly one of Lake Valley's founding families.

It's that time of year again. The county fair, full of funnel cakes, carnival rides, animals, music, exhibits, wheelbarrow races, wine and beer competition and good old fashioned fun.

The El Dorado County Fair opened on Thursday and runs through Sunday, Father's Day at the fairgrounds in Placerville. The theme this year is "Photos, Fathers and Fairs."

The County Sheriff's Office invites community members to stop by their booth and see the brand new state of art patrol vehicles. They'll have a new SUV and sedan on display so people can see inside and check out their new features.
