Emotional well-being topic of next Tahoe Chamber Level Up workshop

Even before the pandemic hit, American businesses were losing 300 billion dollars a year as a result of workplace stress. A recent nationwide survey shows 90 percent of U.S. adults are experiencing emotional distress.

To give employers needed information, the Tahoe Chamber is hosting another installment of its Level Up Webinars on Wednesday, December 16 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. The cost is $10 for Chamber members and $20 for non-members.

Lake Valley Fire selects Brad Zlendick as its new fire chief

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The Lake Valley Fire Protection District didn't have to search far for its new chief to replace the retiring Tim Alameda. Brad Zlendick, who has been in the interim chief role since March 18, is now officially the LVFPD fire chief.

Reopening plans underway for South Lake Tahoe once given the state and county go ahead

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - In less than 90 days life has changed in South Lake Tahoe, California and the United States. The West caught up quickly to the novel coronavirus pandemic that was first contracted by a human in China on November 17, 2019.

Scientists and doctors pled for the public to stay home to keep the virus from spreading, and that plea worked better in some areas than others.

Tahoe Chamber announces Blue RIbbon Award nominees

Close to 70 nominees will be celebrated at the 12th annual Blue Ribbon Awards on Thursday, Nov. 14 at Harrah’s Lake Tahoe Hotel and Casino. Admission to this event is $65 for Tahoe Chamber members and $85 for non-members. Tickets include champagne, wine and full 3-course dinner prepared by Harrah’s executive culinary team. Winners of Lake Tahoe Blue Ribbon Awards to be announced November 8

Over 80 local nominees will be celebrated during the 11th annual Blue Ribbon Awards on Thursday, Nov. 8 at MontBleu Resort starting at 5:30 p.m.

The public is invited to join the Tahoe Chamber in celebrating the businesses and individuals that make the South Shore a great community to live, work and play.

Nominations open for Tahoe Chamber's Blue Ribbon Awards

The Lake Tahoe South Shore Chamber of Commerce, also known as the Tahoe Chamber, is holding the annual Blue Ribbon Awards on November 8 at the MontBleu Resort from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The public is invited to participate in the nomination process and can submit their candidates for the awards until October 5.

Interim county manager named for Douglas County

Jenifer Davidson was appointed as the interim county manager during the Douglas County's Board of County Commissioner meeting August 16, a job she will start on August 31.

Currently Davidson is the assistant county manager, a job she has held since March of this year.

County Manager Larry Werner asked in June to be released from his contract as of August 31.

Chariot microtransit system arrives in South lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Your chariot has arrived!

The League to Save Lake Tahoe has teamed with Chariot to bring a new microtransit service to the South Shore starting on Monday, July 9. They will use the busy summer traffic-congested tourist area to test a solution for transportation issues around the lake.

There are four people running for El Dorado County Supervisor for the 5th District on June 5: Incumbent Sue Novasel and challengers Kenny Curtzwiler, Norma Santiago and Jeffrey Spencer. The 5th District covers Pollock Pines to South Lake Tahoe and Tahoma.

El Dorado County wins award for economic development

El Dorado County was selected as the "2017 Paving the Way" award by the Greater Sacramento Economic Council (GSEC) einner on December 6. This single award ecognizes a community that has achieved exceptional economic development results during the year.

Lake Tahoe Olympians to be honored at Gold Medal Gala

Its been 50 years since the first gold medal in skiing and snowboarding was won by an American. Since Gretchen Fraser’s historic slalom gold at St. Moritz in 1948, 31 athletes from the U.S. have brought home 35 gold medals.

In the 2014 Olympics in Sochi, Russia, Maddie Bowman and Jamie Anderson from South Lake Tahoe each won gold, Bowman in women’s halfpipe skiing and Anderson in women’s slopestyle snowboarding.

Co-Founder of Elevate Blue to Speak at SNC Tahoe March 30

New water lines and fire hydrants in place to fight Lake Tahoe wildfires

Over the past eight building seasons, a bi-state collaborative effort of the South Tahoe Public Utility District, U.S. Forest Service and the other area water agencies has enhanced the Lake Tahoe Basin's water infrastructure to better fight wildfires.

Young entrepreneurs win $6,000 in prize money

On Tuesday night at the annual Jalé and Warren Trepp Business Plan Competition, three teams of young entrepreneurs studying at Sierra Nevada College competed for $6,000 in cash prizes.

This event is one of the most exciting celebrations of the academic year at SNC Tahoe. After each team presented twenty-minute oral presentations to a panel of live, external judges and a public audience of more than 100 people, the room waited in anticipation for the announcement of the winners.

2nd Annual LTCC Community Games

Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Lake Tahoe names new VP/GM

Gaming veteran Chris Fiumara has been named as the new vice president and general manager of the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in South Lake Tahoe.

The former man in the position, Don Marrandino, left a month ago after overseeing the construction and opening phases of the Hard Rock which opened January 28, 2015.

Letter: NDOT thanks community for patience during Kingsbury Grade project

As we at the Nevada Department of Transportation and Q&D Construction substantially complete the Kingsbury Grade Pavement Reconstruction Project this week, we want to thank local community members and businesses for their understanding and support.

Originally scheduled to continue through next summer, the project has substantially completed this week; one season ahead of the original schedule. Completing this important project ahead of schedule could not have been accomplished without the understanding of the entire community.
