South Tahoe High Performing Arts Department presents The Royal Family
Submitted by Editor on Wed, 03/14/2012 - 9:58amSouth Tahoe High Performing Arts Department presents The Royal Family, a comedy by George S. Kaufman & Edna Ferber. Show dates are Friday March 30 at 7 p.m., Saturday, March 31 at 7p.m. and Sunday, April 1 at 2 p.m.
The Royal Family opened in New York City in 1927 and quickly became an enduring favorite. The story is a parody of Drew Barrymore’s great-grandparents, the Barrymore family of Broadway fame. Like the Barrymores, the Cavendish clan is dedicated to theatre. But, for all their eccentricities and inflated emotions, the Cavendish clan is a family like any other.

Plenty of snow at Lake Tahoe for spring skiing, snowboarding
Submitted by Sam Bauman on Fri, 03/09/2012 - 7:49amIt's been a weird ski and riding season, for sure. One indication is that Heavenly Mountain Resort is only operating the Boulder base lodge and the Boulder and North Bowl lifts on weekends. In all the years I taught at Boulder never has had a shutdown like this. Too bad because lots of locals liked Boulder as out-of-towners didn't go there very often. Thus, parking was close and runs not crowded.

Movie Review: 'The Sitter' has some moments but not many
Submitted by Sam Bauman on Wed, 12/14/2011 - 2:26amBy Sam Bauman
"The Sitter," billed as a black comedy and currently flickering at Heavenly Village Cinema at South Shore Lake Tahoe, is mercifully only 81 minutes long, but that's long enough to spell disaster to any discriminating movie goer.
It stars comic actor Jonah Hill as college failure Noah forced into baby sitting three of the most repellent child actors in living memory. He is also pursuing a blonde who is suggesting intimacy that night.
