Long holiday weekends generally means more motorists traveling on our state’s roadways thus increasing the calls for service for our agency. Please assist us with our highway safety efforts this holiday season by always driving with safety in mind first, being courteous to others motorists, and never drink and drive.

They came, partied and prayed. There were plenty of positive vibrations to go around along with generous amounts of praise to the snow gods Thursday at Camp Richardson’s annual “Pray for Snow” party at The Fresh Ketch.
Locals and visitors united to celebrate the kick off the South Shore Lake Tahoe ski and snowboard season. Among the festivities were food and drink specials, contests, bands playing upstairs and downstairs, the frozen t-shirt contest and various giveaways from Sierra-at-Tahoe, Sensational Tans, Sierra Athletic Club, Tahoe Bowl, The Village Board Shop and Camp Richardson.
Heavenly at Lake Tahoe celebrates with early opening

Lifts began turning at Heavenly Mountain Resort at 9 a.m. Wednesday, signaling the return of winter to Lake Tahoe and the region's ski and snowboard destination. Early-season storms combined with the West Coast’s largest snowmaking system have given Heavenly the ability to stage its earliest opening since 2004-05. All access to the mountain at this time is through the Heavenly Gondola and Tamarack Express.

South Shore Lake Tahoe celebrates fall with Germany in mind during OktoberFest at Camp Richardson Oct. 6-7. This annual festival dishes up two full days of great food, hand-crafted items, family games and numerous drink samplings. Admission is free and so is the parking.
Kids of all ages can search for the perfect pumpkin at the festival’s pumpkin patch. The entire family will enjoy events especially geared to children, including games for all age groups, from the Bouncy Castle, to face painting. Athletes will begin with a swim at Zephyr Cove Resort at Lake Tahoe, then onto a more than 100-mile-bike-ride through Carson City and a long-run along the Truckee River, ending at the Legends at Sparks Marina.

A large area of high pressure will expand westward bringing high temperatures 8 to 12 degrees above normal this week, with mid 70s to low 90s over the Lake Tahoe Basin and Sierra, with mid 90s to 108 degrees in Western Nevada valleys below 5,000 feet.

And I’m quite aware that there are some that make loads of bad choices but don’t know how to take responsibility for them and instead blame others for why their life isn’t working.
