The start of Camp Richardson’s Snowshoe Cocktail Races, a three-part series, is set for Jan. 17, at 7 p.m.
Racers, cocktail trays in hand, navigate through obstacles, and up and down the beach. The winner is the fastest and cleanest at the finish.

Michelle Langmayer and Shelly McMillin opened this welcoming rustic boutique salon in Round Hill to offer full services ranging from makeup and color to waxing and specialty treatments. To celebrate their months of hard work, Langmayer and McMillin invite all to the grand opening and ribbon cutting of L’Atelier Hair Studio on Friday, January 9. The event begins at 5:00 pm and includes music, drinks, food and raffle prizes.

Submitted by paula on Sat, 12/13/2014 - 12:47amDespite the power outages and high winds in the South Shore, the Marriott Grand Residence Club was warm and cozy (with power!) on Thursday night, which made it the perfect first stop for TahoeChamber’s annual Winter Wine Walk Business After Hours Mixer (BAHM!). Nearly 100 guests began their tours at the Marriott Grand Residence Club with a taste from Crystal Basin Cellars before embarking on a tour to participating businesses. Each shop welcomed attendees with food, drinks and raffle prizes. It was a fun, blustery night that included great food, wine and friends.

Limit holiday weight gain with the following tips.
Be selective. At a party, scan the food choices and select the best first. Skip snack foods available “anytime” like chips, crackers, pretzels, and cheese.
Fill up, not out. Alternate high calorie treats with low calorie vegetables and beverages.
New Lake Tahoe restaurant's Latin cuisine star of ribbon cutting
Submitted by paula on Tue, 11/11/2014 - 9:25pmIf you haven't made it to Azul Latin Kitchen yet it may be time to schedule a visit for lunch, dinner or a cocktail. The decorations are the bar are very creative and homey, including furniture hanging on the wall and crates as the light fixtures.
Azul opened in the Heavenly Village several weeks ago but they just had their official ribbon cutting and grand opening ceremony on November 7. Many people from the South Lake Tahoe business community stopped by to enjoy the food and drinks, many for the first time. A band played near the fire pit outside.

South Shore locals looking to diversify their nights out now have another option in X Hale Lounge at Stateline. It is a full-service bar and lounge that serves hookah, which is a flavored tobacco or non-tobacco delivered through a water pipe.
X Hale Lounge also features guest DJs and weekly drink specials.
All community members are invited to the ribbon cutting which will feature hookah samples and $1 drinks for those with a local I.D.

Zephyr Fire Crew Firefighter Kyle Van Mourick has been battling Guillain Barre Syndrome since becoming ill while fighting a wild land fire in Elko, Nevada in June. He has been hospitalized since.
An evening of fundraising to help Kyle in his fight of the disease is being held on Friday, December 6 at Himmel Haus Restaurant and Bar in South Lake Tahoe. There will be a German dinner of Bratwurst and Spaetzel, drinks and live music as well as a silent auction. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. The doors will open at 5 pm with the dinner at 6 pm.
Heavenly Receives 6-8” of Snow; Kicks Off Snowmaking for November 22 Opening

The resort received its first significant snowfall of the season last night with 6-8 inches of snow overnight on the mountain.

The second Heavenly Mountain Run on Sunday, Sept. 1, takes runners from the California Base Lodge at 6,565-feet, 5.8 miles, up Maggie’s to Hellwinkles and along the California Trail to the top of one of Lake Tahoe’s largest four-seasons resorts.
The run finishes at the Tamarack Lodge at an awe-inspiring 9,150-feet. Runners can enjoy a scenic ride down the Heavenly Gondola back to the base or descend on their own.
Finishers will be greeted by cheering fans and a post-race spread of food, drinks, and activities for all ages.

The Young Professions organized a holiday ‘FUN’draiser to benefit Tahoe’s SkiDUCK, (SKi and snowboarding for Disabled and Underprivileged Children and older Kids) at Riva Grill last month which included an evening of live music, raffle prizes, silent auction items, photo booth, games, food and drinks.
