Heavenly resort at Lake Tahoe launches summer activities Memorial Day weekend

After an action-packed winter season at Lake Tahoe, Heavenly Mountain Resort is switching gears and opening with summer activities this Memorial Day weekend May 25-27. Heavenly will run the Heavenly Gondola for sightseeing, dining, family activities and hiking. Operating times will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“Lake Tahoe is one of the top summer destinations, and Heavenly offers numerous outdoor activities for guests to enjoy, starting this Memorial Day weekend,” said Pete Sonntag, Heavenly’s general manager. “With the best views in Tahoe and the gorgeous Tamarack Lodge and Bar 9150’, it’s a must-visit spot for fun in Tahoe.”

The Heavenly Gondola will transport guests 3,000 feet above Lake Tahoe to the Mid-Station Observation Deck, where guests can enjoy stunning views of Lake Tahoe, the Desolation Wilderness, and the Carson Valley. Café Blue is located on the 14,000 square-foot Observation Deck platform and offers coffee, beer, snacks, other cold beverages, and hot chocolate.

At the top of the Gondola, guests can challenge themselves on the 25-foot climbing wall, designed for beginner to advanced climbers, and kids can play in a safe environment on the Spider Zone climbing tower. Tamarack Lodge will be open for dining and drinks, and guests will be able to enjoy varied hiking trails of green and blue levels.

Gondola sightseeing tickets are $38 for adults, $32 for teens (13-18) and seniors (65+) and $20 for kids. Children four and under ride the Gondola for free. Heavenly will also offer the Lift and Lunch program, which includes a round-trip Gondola ride and a $15 food voucher for adults, teens and seniors and a $10 food voucher for kids. The Lift and Lunch is $46 for adults, $40 for teens (13-18) and seniors (65+) and $26 for kids.

After Memorial Day weekend Heavenly will open for seven-day-a-week summer operations on Friday, June 14, 2013 from 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

Please note that Heavenly has banned all smoking on the mountain, including the Gondola, as a precautionary measure to protect from fire danger during the dry summer months.
