Tahoe Film Fest returns with modified schedule on North Shore

INLINE VILLAGE, Nev. - The 6th Annual Tahoe Film Fest presents environmental and independent feature length and award winning films to North Lake Tahoe from December 3-6, 2020. Special guests and filmmakers will be present at many of the films.
The festival takes on a new look during the pandemic. The films originally scheduled for Northstar had to be moved as movie theaters must only operate outdoors due to Placer County's Purple Tier. The theaters on the Nevada side can still show films but only at 50 percent capacity.

LAKE TAHOE, Calif./Nev. - There will be no Earth Day Celebration festivals around the lake this year, but Lake Tahoe and Truckee event organizers have created a virtual version with daily activities for the whole family.
Despite the current global situation, everyone can still celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day thanks to the team at The Tahoe Fund spearheaded a group via their Take Care program that has provided daily activities and challenges for students and parents to participate in over the course of the week.

Tahoe Film Festival returns to the North Shore

The 5th annual Tahoe Film Fest presents an incredible selection of new feature films and documentaries on various topics, as well as important award-winning environmental films. Several filmmakers introduce their works. The event is a fantastic opportunity to enjoy almost thirty films and interact with other film aficionados.
All proceeds from the festival, which runs on the North Shore from December 5-8, go to support educational programs at the UC Davis Tahoe Environmental Research Center.
Kudos: Community supports growing tennis program

A record 246 people participated in the 36th Tahoe Tennis Classic at Zephyr Cove Park this past weekend. The four-day annual event brought people from throughout the United States to our area for competitive and fun tennis.
The tournament is the biggest fundraiser for the Zephyr Cove Tennis Club Foundation. The nonprofit, all-volunteer organization has a contract with Douglas County to operate the six courts. Responsibilities include resurfacing the courts, managing play, and providing instruction for all ages and abilities.

During the conference, Dr. Peter Gleick, an expert in water issues especially in the context of economic and environmental justice, will be at the conference which takes place October 8-10 in Tahoe City. When it comes to adventure sports films, there's the edge of insanity and then there's the abyss. For 10 years the Tahoe Adventure Film Festival has taken its viewers on a celluloid and digital tour filled with rapid-succession footage and no-holds-bar outdoor drama played out across continents, continental shelves and all points in between.
The film festival returns to Lake Tahoe, Saturday, Dec. 8, at MontBleu Resort Casino and Spa, and promises plenty of mountaintops, cliffhangers and enough high-energy entertainment between showings to ignite fervor for the New Year and its spectrum of outdoor adventure sports. The night includes guest speakers, action photo displays, break-dancers, DJs and a handful of surprises.

Tall Treez is teaming up with Lake Tahoe snowboarder Jamie Anderson to host there 3rd Annual Film Festival. The show will be on Friday, Nov. 16 at the Horizon Casino Resort at Stateline South Shore Lake Tahoe. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m. Entry $12.
Warren Miller film 'Flow State' arrives at Lake Tahoe

At South Shore Lake Tahoe there's two coming events worth noting: Warren Miller’s 63rd annual film, “Flow State” will be shown at at MontBleu Resort Casino and Spa Nov. 29-30 as part of a 240-city tour.
This annual Miller-produced homage to all things skiing and boarding takes viewers to the top of the world’s most striking peaks in Norway, Austria, California, Switzerland and beyond.

Sierra At Tahoe presents Mountainfilm on Tour Oct, 20th 2012 at MontBleu Resort and Casino. In 2000, The Mountainfilm in Telluride festival embarked on a new journey – Mountainfilm on Tour. Each year, a selection of films from the international film festival are taken on the road to reach audiences who otherwise wouldn’t have a chance to experience the festival. Those films display themes of adventure, mountaineering, remarkable personalities and important environmental and social messages. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., show at 7 p.m.
