July 4, 2014 - 10:00am The Third Annual Fourth of July Parade will once again celebrate the independence of our country, while honoring those who gave us our freedoms.
The parade will begin at Les Schwab Tires promptly at 10:00 AM on Friday, the Fourth of July, and proceed down Lake Tahoe Blvd. to the American Legion Post #795.
Light refreshments will be served after the parade, which is expected to end by noon. The American Legion Post will offer a meal inside the Post for a small charge following the parade.Golden Bear Events produces the parade, donating staff and personal expenses.

Possession of fireworks of any kind, including sparklers, is illegal in the Lake Tahoe Basin and campfires are not permitted on National Forest beaches or in the general forest. For those planning to barbecue on the beach, the Forest Service requires the use of portable gas stoves.

July 4, 2013 (All day) The Second Annual Fourth of July Parade and Event is sponsored this year by the American Legion Post #795 in South Lake Tahoe. The parade will stage in the parking lot of Big 5 at the Y, and begin traveling East at 10:00 am on Thursday, July 4, 2013. The parade will conclude at the American Legion Post #795 by 11:00 am.

We have now reached the 5th anniversary of the devastating Angora Fire which ravaged our community. The large scale wildfires in Colorado and New Mexico should serve as warnings to us all. After experiencing a very mild winter, our area faces a dangerous wild land fire season. Independence Day: Sunny, with a high near 80. West wind between 5 and 10 mph.
Wednesday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 46.
Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 78.
Thursday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 47.

Nevada Highway Patrol to set up Incline Village sobriety checkpoint over July 4 holiday
Submitted by Editor on Fri, 06/29/2012 - 8:43amThe Nevada Highway Patrol, along with the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, Sparks Police Department, and the Carson City Sheriff’s Office are planning a sobriety check point for the Fourth of July holiday.
The check point will be held in Incline Village at Lake Tahoe and is being funded by a Joining Forces grant from the Nevada Office of Traffic Safety.
Due to the fireworks display and other special events planned at Lake Tahoe, a large increase in both vehicular and pedestrian traffic expected during the holiday.

The U.S. Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management unit reminds folks that having fireworks of any kind — and sparklers are considered fireworks — is illegal in the Lake Tahoe Basin. Campfires are not permitted on Forest Service beaches or in the general forest. For Wednesday, July 4, 2012, only, personal barbecues are allowed at Nevada, Pope and Baldwin beaches but are not permitted on any other Forest Service beaches or in the general forest.

Work to begin Pope-Baldwin Bike Path repair project

The Pope- Baldwin Bike Path is located near the south end of Lake Tahoe and runs along Hwy. 89 for approximately three miles.
Repair work will include fixing cracks and holes and eliminating bumps. The repair project is intended to improve safety and accessibility, while increasing the trail's lifespan.
Public campground fees to increase by $2 at Lake Tahoe

Camping fees will increase at Fallen Leaf (now $30), Meeks Bay (now $25), William Kent (now $25), Kaspian (now $17) and Nevada Beach (now $30 for regular sites, $34 for premium sites) campgrounds. Even with the fee increase, CLM campgrounds are below the cost of privately operated campgrounds in the basin. The fees at Bayview Campground, beaches and day-use areas remain the same.
