Jamie Anderson wins overall 2016 freestyle snowboarding title

The final snowboard FIS World Cup slopestyle event took place Sunday in Spindleruv Mlyn, Czech Republic, and Jamie Anderson from Meyers won the crystal globe award for women’s snowboard slopestyle despite skipping the final event of the season. Anderson also claimed the crystal globe for overall freestyle snowboarding.

On the men's side, Chris Corning (Arvada, CO) hit the podium with a second-place finish, and secured the overall World Cup Slopestyle title.

Jamie Anderson wins Big Air Snowboarding title in China

South Lake Tahoe's Jamie Anderson won the big air title Sunday at the TTR Pro Snowboarding/WSF World Snowboard Federation’s World Championships of Snowboarding in Yabuli.

Anderson, who is fresh off a win at the Burton US Open in slopestyle, won the world title with a pair of 720s (Cab and frontside) in the two-run format.

Jamie Anderson wins third consecutive U.S. Open Title in Vail

The American slopestyle snowboarders reigned supreme at the 35th edition of the Burton US Open on Friday. Kyle Mack (West Bloomfield, MI) scored his first major slopestyle win and fellow Michigander Eric Beauchemin (Grand Blanc, MI) finished right behind him in second. On the women’s side Jamie Anderson (South Lake Tahoe, CA) took home her third-consecutive US Open title and Karly Shorr (Milford, MI) took second.

Maddie Bowman wins gold; Jamie Anderson silver in XGames

All three runs for South Lake Tahoe's Maddie Bowman in the Women's Ski SuperPipe X Games today beat all competitors on the course, earning her a fourth straight gold medal in the event. The 22-year-old Olympic gold medalist has also won a silver and bronze in the X Games.

Bowman scored a 85.33 on her first run Friday, followed by a 87.33 and 89.00. Second place finisher Ayana Onozuka of Japan ended up with a high run of 85.00. Bronze medalist Annalisa Drew of the USA had an 83.00.

South Tahoe High and Whittell High athletes have seen wins this week, both on the court and on the slopes and South Lake Tahoe's Maddie Bowman is at Mammoth Mountain today for the first stop for the FIS Freestyle Ski World Cup 2016.

South Tahoe High's varsity basketball teams won Wednesday night in Sparks. The boys beat the Railroaders 77-63 while the girls handled their opponent, winning the game by a score of 54-34.

Jamie Anderson in Dubai to promote city's action sports

XDubai, the city’s ambassador for action sports, has released a video series featuring professional surfer Sally Fitzgibbons and Olympic gold snowboarder Jamie Anderson paddle boarding, desert hiking, and engaging in wind tunnel inflight in Dubai.

Titled “Lifestyle Sessions,” the videos are meant to highlight Dubai’s outdoor and extreme sporting activities.

XDubai is the group behind videos of “Jetmen” Yves Rossy and Vince Reffet.
Anderson, who’s participated and won 12 medals, described Dubai as a “Disneyland for athletes.”

Sierra-at-Tahoe latest resort to close due to drought

Sierra-at-Tahoe is the latest Lake Tahoe area ski resort to announce that it will suspend operations, beginning Monday, because of the lack of snow brought on by the ongoing drought in the west.

Olympian Jamie Anderson gives back to kids on the South Shore

Jamie Anderson continued her Give Back With Love sponsorship program on Tuesday, by giving three local students a dream package of equipment and a ski pass.

Anderson wanted to be present to give the students their prize but, according to Sierra-at-Tahoe, Jamie has been tied up with the X Games and Burton European Open. They wanted to get the kids up on the hill as soon as possible so didn't wait for Anderson's return but she'll join them on the slopes once back in South Lake Tahoe.

South Shore's Jamie Anderson wins Silver at X Games

South Lake Tahoe's Jamie Anderson won her 10th X Games medal in Aspen, CO today, bringing home silver.

Anderson led the group of athletes in Snowboard Slopestyle through the first two rounds but failed to land cleanly on the last, allowing defending two time X Game Gold medalist Silje Norendal to win her third straight gold.

Today's event was Anderson's third straight X Game silver.

The Sierra-at-Tahoe snowboarder's medal count for X Games: 4 Gold, 4 Silver and 2 Bronze.

South Lake Tahoe's Kyle Smaine wins first World Championship

South Tahoe High graduate, Kyle Smaine made his first appearance at world championships count on Thursday night by winning the gold for men's halfpipe in Austria. The 23-year old won the 2015 FIS Freestyle Ski & Snowboard World Championships with a Left-side 1260 tail; Right-side 1080 tail; Switch 720 opposite safety; Right-side 900 high mute; Right-side 900 truck driver.

He skies for Sierra at Tahoe, just as do Olympians Maddie Bowman, Jamie Anderson and Hannah Teter.

Maddie Bowman wins third straight gold medal at X Games

South Lake Tahoe's Maddie Bowman won her third straight gold medal Wednesday in the 2015 Women's Ski SuperPipe final at the X Games in Aspen.

She started off day one of the annual five day event with solid runs of 85.00, 78.00 and 85.66. The silver went to Ayana Onozuka (83.33) and a bronze to Brita Sigourney (78.66).

Bowman, who grew up on the slopes of Sierra-at-Tahoe, tied the late Sarah Burke's three straight X Game golds.

South Lake Tahoe Olympian Maddie Bowman wins on Dew Tour

Olympic gold medalists Maddie Bowman and Jamie Anderson repeated as Dew Tour Mountain Championships winners in Breckenridge, Colo., on Friday.

Bowman, 20, won in her first ski halfpipe competition since May knee surgery. Either of her runs would have taken the trophy. She landed right and left 900s in each, scoring 88.75 and 91.25.

“I felt a different pressure [after the Olympics],” Bowman said, according to the U.S. Ski Team.

Jamie Anderson starts off 2014 season with a Dew Tour win

Jamie Anderson just can’t be beat, even with some bruised ribs from a nasty fall during practice on Tuesday. The Sochi Olympic slopestyle gold medalist battled through the pain and rose to the occasion this afternoon, locking down her first slopestyle win of the season and fifth overall win in the Dew Tour series.

Olympian Jamie Anderson hosts fundraiser for the Sugar Pine Foundation

South Lake Tahoe's Golden Girl Jamie Anderson is throwing a party in her hometown to help raise money for the sugar pine trees.

On Thursday, November 6, Jamie in presenting "Golden Experience" at Azul Latin Kitchen in the Heavenly Village from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. She will talk about her trip to Socchi, Russia and the winning of a gold medal.

The Sugar Pine Foundation will be auctioning off some snowboard gear signed by Jamie, Vail lift tickets and winter themed art.

Tickets $20 per person include a poster of Jamie snowboarding. Kids are free.

South Lake Tahoe's Jamie Anderson wins two ESPY Awards

Jamie Anderson of South Lake Tahoe won two awards at Wednesday night's ESPY awards in Los Angeles. She won the award for Best Female Action Sports Athlete and Best Female U.S. Olympian.

Anderson, the 23 year old who brought home a Gold Medal, also won the ESPY for Best Female Action Sports Athlete in 2012. She won inaugural Women's Slopestyle Event at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.

An ESPY Award is an accolade presented by the American cable television network ESPN to recognize individual and team athletic achievement and other sports-related performance.

Sierra at Tahoe's Olympic Golden Celebration Video

Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort hosted a "Golden Celebration" on March 15, 2014 to welcome home Winter Olympians, Jamie Anderson, Maddie Bowman, and Hannah Teter. The day started with a procession through South Lake Tahoe where people lined the streets to catch a glimpse of the gold medalists. The celebration at Sierra Resort consisted of a grand ceremony, proclamations from dignitaries, including California Senator Gaines, and live music. The girls also signed autographs and danced the night away. Thanks to the entire community for coming out to celebrate. Way to go Team Sierra!

Two Way Gratitude Street Between Olympians and the South Shore Community

Back on home turf, Maddie Bowman, Jamie Anderson and Hannah Teter from South Lake Tahoe spent Saturday doing everything from autographing hundreds of posters to standing in front of thousands of cheering fans.

The "Golden Girls" are all glad to be home after the whirlwind they've been on since the 2014 Olympic Games. The celebration and parade held in South Lake Tahoe, Meyers and Sierra at Tahoe was the first time the three Olympians had been together since Sochi.

South Lake Tahoe's Jamie Anderson Continues Her Winning Ways

Olympic gold medalist Jamie Anderson of South Lake Tahoe landed another major slopestyle victory at the Burton U.S. Open Friday. Anderson clinched the TTR World Snowboard Tour slopestyle title with her win at the snowy Vail Mountain venue. Canadian Spencer O’Brien took second and Isabel Derungs of Switzerland third in the women’s final. Canada’s Mark McMorris took the victory for the men with Norwegian Stale Sandbech taking second and Candian Max Parrot third.

You've seen the videos where a young man or woman asks a celebrity to go to the prom with them. Olympian Jamie Anderson from South Lake Tahoe has just received one of those requests.

The friends of Homestead High School student Nir Voloshin are trying to get his request out and hope that Jamie will see it, and respond.

South Lake Tahoe, the tight-knit ski community big on Olympic athletes will honor its three USA team members in a city-wide celebration, Saturday, March 15.

Jamie Anderson, Maddie Bowman, who won gold for snowboarding slopestyle and freeskiing halfpipe respectively, and Hannah Teter who placed fourth in snowboarding halfpipe, will be lauded at Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort.

Updated Lake Tahoe Olympic Medal Count

The medals won by Lake Tahoe athletes grew by one on Thursday, bringing the total to 4. The three gold medals were won by Maddie Bowman, Jamie Anderson and David Wise. Julia Mancuso won bronze.

There are three days left of competition in the 2014 Olympics in Sochi. The closing ceremonies will air on NBC Sunday night from 8:30 pm to 10:30 pm.

South Lake Tahoe's Maddie Bowman won gold today in Sochi! She went into the Olympic Freeskiing Halfpipe finals sitting comfortably in third, led all women with an 89 in the finals. Marie Martinod of France won silver and Ayana Onozuka of Japan won the bronze.

The South Tahoe High graduate, who won the last two XGames in the event, is competing in her first Olympics at age 20. She is now the first woman to ever win a gold medal in the inaugural Olympic Ski Halfpipe.

Olympians from Lake Tahoe Have Higher Medal Count Than Some Countries

The gold medals won by Jamie Anderson and David Wise, along with the bronze won by Julia Mancuso have put the Lake Tahoe medal count above those won by Great Britain and Finland, and the same as Australia and Latvia.

Lake Tahoe's medal count can still increase with Maddie Bowman's Freeskiing Halfpipe coming up on Thursday, and the men's Giant Slalom and Slalom on Wednesday and Saturday where Tim Jitloff will try to medal as well.

U.S. Olympic Snowboarding Team Nominations Announced

From USSA - Three Athletes added to team after initial publishing

U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association announced the nomination of 13 halfpipe and slopestyle snowboarding athletes Sunday afternoon at the conclusion of the Sprint U.S. Snowboarding Grand Prix. Slopestyle snowboarding will be contested in the Olympic Winter Games for the first time ever in Sochi. The five event qualifying series came down to the final stop at Mammoth Mountain, with all but two spots decided during the final event weekend.

South Lake Tahoe's Jamie Anderson Wins Sprint U.S. Grand Prix Title at Mammoth

Two days after clinching a spot on the U.S. Olympic Team, South Lake Tahoe's Jamie Anderson took the Sprint U.S. Grand Prix overall slopestyle title and a $10,000 cash prize with her win Saturday at Mammoth Mountain.

MAMMOTH MOUNTAIN, CA (Jan. 16) – Olympic halfpipe champion Shaun White (Carlsbad, CA) mathematically clinched a spot on the first-ever U.S. Olympic team for slopestyle snowboarding on Thursday at the Paul Mitchell Slopestyle at the Sprint U.S. Grand Prix.

Jamie Anderson of South Lake Tahoe clinched the first spot on the U.S. Olympic slopestyle snowboarding team with her victory Thursday at the Sprint U.S. Grand Prix at Mammoth Mountain. Ryan Stassel (Anchorage) took the victory for the men, while favorite Shaun White (Carlsbad, CA) fell hard during his first run and couldn’t put together a complete second run. It was the third Olympic qualifier of five, and the fourth qualifier commenced Thursday at 4:30 p.m..

Anderson's winning run was a 50-50, back lip, tail 270 out, frontside 360 shifty, backside 540 and cab 720.
