Man arrested in connection with Sunday's three Lake Tahoe area fires

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - One man has been arrested in connection with three suspicious fires in the Echo Peak and Echo Lakes area on July 5, 2020. The fires, the Echo Fire, the Upper Fire, and the Lake Fire, appear to have been intentionally started.

Robbery at Wells Fargo in South Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) is looking for the person who robbed the Wells Fargo Bank inside Raley's at Stateline on Saturday.

SLTPD responded to the call of a robbery at 11:02 a.m. on March 14. An unknown male had entered the store wearing a mask and headed to the bank on the east side. He demanded money from the teller and left with an undisclosed amount of cash and exited the store, heading toward Heavenly Village.

Bijou Community School celebrates "Mr. Lopez Day"

Missing Carson City boy found in Reno

UPDATE 3:52 p.m.: Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong told News 4 the 11-year-old boy walked more than 12 miles on Wednesday afternoon after getting in an argument with family members. Brendan Hubbs-Whitney was found near the Chocolate Nugget candy factory in Washoe Valley by a woman who was on her way to Reno early Thursday morning

Tahoe Forest Stewardship Day - Spring

Participants at the Spring Tahoe Forest Stewardship Day will help assess the work done from a past event and continue important work. A light breakfast, refreshments and a prize will be provided to all volunteers.

Wells Fargo Bank in South Lake Tahoe robbed; FBI and Police search for suspect

The South Lake Tahoe Police Department is looking for a man who robbed the Wells Fargo Bank at the Y on Emerald Bay Road on Saturday, March 24, 2018.

According to police detectives, the man walked into the bank at 12:57 p.m. and presented a note to the teller advising that a robbery was occurring. The male subject did not present a weapon, and it is unknown at this time if he was armed or not. The suspect left the bank with an undisclosed amount of US currency.

Woman sexually assaulted on west slope bike trail, suspect leaves behind shoe

An El Dorado County woman walking on a bike trail with her child in a stroller was sexually assaulted on January 27 at approximately 1:00 p.m.

The male suspect approached the woman on the trail near Missouri Flat Road and asked her about the location of a nearby business. He then asked her for a dollar, and when she gave it to him he asked to shake her hand. He then grabbed a hold of her hand, pulled her in close and used his other hand to sexually assault her according to Sgt. Tasha Thompson of the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office.

Douglas County Sheriff's Office seeks public's help in catching purse thief

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in identifying a person of interest in the theft of purses in two separate incidents in Stateline on October 22, 2016.

In a press release today, DCSO said two different victims used the restrooms at both MontBleu and Harrah's Tahoe between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Within minutes, both women could not locate their purses.

More food tampering incidents in South Lake Tahoe; One sent to hospital

9:00AM Update 11/22/16: The South Lake Tahoe Police Department believes the same person is responsible for recent food tampering incidents at Baja Fresh and Raley's due to similarities in the cases. The unidentified suspect is described as a white male adult, 5'7" with a thin build.

South Lake Tahoe Police looking for suspect in food tampering case

An unidentified man is being sought by the South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) for allegedly tampering with food on at least four different occasions in the Hot Wok self-serve section of the Raley's in the Village Center at Stateline.

On Tuesday, November 15, 2016 a suspect walked into the grocery store, approached the self-serve food display, and intentionally dispensed an unknown type of contaminating substance on top of the food. The suspect then walked out of the store and left the area on foot. Officers were unable to locate the suspect.

Public's help sought in locating Carson Valley teen runaway

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a runaway juvenile.

Kyle Bidgood, age 15, left home on October 25 with skateboard in hand and hasn't been seen by his family since.

Bidgood is described as a Caucasian male, with dark hair, 5’7” and around 110 lbs. He was last seen wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt with black sleeves, black jeans and a baseball cap.

Sheriff seeks suspects who passed counterfeit $100 bills on South Shore

Three men are being sought by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office for the allegedly passed counterfeit $100 bills at the CVS pharmacy in Stateline, Nev., on September 30.

Seven counterfeit bills were passed in three separate incidents by the three suspects. The transactions occurred at 12:07 a.m., 4:17 a.m. and 6:24 a.m. In all three incidents the men purchased Visa gift cards in varying amounts and received cash back in change.

At the 12:07 a.m. transaction, the suspect is described as a male, possible Hispanic, in his mid-30’s, wearing a black hat, black sweatshirt.

Sheriff asking for public's help in finding woman missing in Pollock Pines

The El Dorado County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in finding a deaf woman who went missing in the Pollock Pines area back on July 8.

Kimberly Gillespie, 42, was last seen possibly walking in a rural area east of Pollock Pines. She is a white female adult, 5’2″ tall and weighs approximately 140 pounds. Kimberly has brown hair, brown eyes and has disabilities that affect her memory and mobility.

She was last seen wearing a sleeveless shirt, blue jeans and tennis shoes.

El Dorado Savings in Georgetown robbed at gunpoint

The El Dorado Savings Bank in Georgetown, Calif., was robbed at gunpoint by an unknown man on Monday, March 21. 2016 at 12:49 p.m.

The suspect is identified as being a white male adult, was wearing blue jeans, blue rain coat and a San Francisco 49ers ball cap. He was armed with a black pistol and seen leaving the area in a red Dodge Durango, most likely a 2004-09 model.

El Dorado County Sheriff's deputies, detectives and CSI personnel, along with allied law enforcement, responded to the bank and interviewed numerous employees, customers and witnesses.

Vehicle pursuit reaches 100 mph after suspects steal expensive liquor in Carson City

4:30 p.m. update: The name of the male taken into custody is 23-year-old Dominic Gonzalez from Newark, Calif. Gonzalez is currently being held at the Washoe County Jail on a felony charge for possession of stolen property as well as reckless driving, driving without a driver’s license, fail to stop at the scene of an accident, fail to give information to party at accident and failure to obey a peace officer.

Another El Dorado County home invasion robbery nets pot and cash

There have been two home invasion robberies in El Dorado County in the last nine days, and in both cases the thieves were after money and marijuana.

On November 28 at 1:15 a.m., sheriff's deputies responded to a home invasion robbery in the 3000 block of Winter Creek Road in Mount Aukum. The unidentified male caller said his wife was the victim and she was home alone. He went home and met deputies there.

South Lake Tahoe Police looking for man who robbed teenager

A 16-year-old South Lake Tahoe boy was walking on the bike path behind the Motel 6 on Monday, November 23 when he was robbed by a man who came out of the bushes. The teen was on the path at 1:30 p.m. when the suspect had his hand in his trench coat pocket, simulating a gun, and pointed it at the boy. The suspect demanded money and the young victim, who believed the man had a gun, gave him what he had. The teen was unharmed in the incident.

The unidentified suspect left the area on foot.

The victim described the suspect as:

-White male adult, between 6’00’’ and 6’03’’

Diamond Springs branch of El Dorado Savings robbed

The El Dorado Savings Bank on Pleasant Valley Road in Diamond Springs was robbed on Friday, November 13 at about 6:00 p.m. The suspect reportedly fled on foot, last seen running east on Pleasant Valley Road.

Counterfeit bills on rise in El Dorado County; One arrest made

Several counterfeit bills have been used for transactions on the west slope of El Dorado County, even days after the arrest of one suspect. On May 8, the Sheriff Deputies were called to the Round Table Restaurant in Pollock Pines after a man tried to buy food with a counterfeit $100 bill. He and a woman left before deputies arrived but a description of the pair and their vehicle was provided to EDCSO.

New on the South Shore: Posh Finds

Posh Finds has been opened in South Lake Tahoe since November 4, and owner Krystal Garcia is excited about what's to come. The store features lightly used clothing and accessories along with some new items she's been able to find at deep discounts.

"I like nice things but hate to pay retail," said Garcia. Her new shop has a large selection of designer jeans, shoes, tops, jewelry, dresses and little bit of everything.

She moved to South Lake Tahoe over five years ago and has been a stay at home mom. The store, she says, is a long time coming and will fill a void in the area.

Suspect sought in Burglary of Mi Pueblo Market in South Lake Tahoe

The Mi Pueblo Market on Pioneer Trail was burglarized on Sunday morning at approximately 2:19 a.m. The unidentified suspect used a crow bar to force his way into the business. Once inside, he stole coins, phone cards and cash. The total amount of loss to the business is still being determined.

The suspect attempted to conceal his identity by wearing a hat, gloves and a face mask during the burglary.

Police seek public's help in locating missing Placerville teen

Placerville police are looking for Tyler Demars, an at risk teen who was last seen on July 12.

He is described as 6 feet 1 inch tall, weighing 160 pounds, with brown hair and eyes. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, and a tan and brown shirt. He drives a green Honda Civic with a Batman license plate frame.

Anyone with information regarding Demars whereabouts is asked to call the Placerville Police Department at (530) 642-5280.

Several tablets were stolen from the Carson Valley Game Stop on February 8, 2014. The Douglas County Sheriff's Office released a photo of the suspect today in hopes of the public being able to identify him.

South Tahoe High Students Collecting Jeans for Homeless Youth

In a quest to make a difference, South Tahoe High School senior Brooke Georguson is collecting jeans that will be donated to homeless youth in the Reno/Tahoe community. On top of that goal, Brooke wants to collect the most jeans in the region so her school will be awarded a $10,000 grant.

Three sought in South Lake Tahoe motel robbery

South Lake Tahoe police are investigating an armed robbery at the Pinewood Lodge that happened late Saturday night.

Three are being sought by police after a woman and two men wearing ski masks robbed the motel at gunpoint, said South Lake Tahoe Police Sgt. Shannon Laney. It happened at about 11:30 p.m. The suspects, described as a black female and two black males, were armed with a black semi-automatic handgun and a hunting knife. The trio escaped in a Cadillac.

Douglas County authorities ask for help in locating missing woman

Douglas County Sheriff’s Office investigators are seeking the public’s help in locating a missing 63-year-old woman. Kathy Arlana Hammond was reported as a missing person by a friend on Sunday, Feb. 17. Hammond was last seen at approximately 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 15.

Hammond is reported to be mentally unstable, and has threatened suicide in the past. Hammond is reported to be driving a 4-door 1993 Subaru Legacy sedan, teal green in color, bearing California license plate 3CKF797.

Douglas County authorities seek public help in solving Carson Valley burglaries

Douglas County Sheriff's Office investigators are seeking the public’s help in identifying the suspects responsible for several burglaries that occurred in the early morning hours of Tuesday, Jan. 15.

The unknown suspects committed burglaries at four separate locations in Douglas County; including a commercial burglary at the Genoa Bar, two burglaries at unoccupied homes in a residential neighborhood in Genoa, and several vehicle burglaries at two local auto repair shops in Gardnerville.

Woman critically hurt in South Lake Tahoe crosswalk accident

South Lake Tahoe Police have provided more details into Saturday's pedestrian accident on Highway 50 near Heavenly Village that critically injured a 71-year-old Ohio woman on Saturday night.

The 21-year-old Walnut Creek, Calif. man who was struck and killed by a California Highway Patrol vehicle and a shuttle bus early Sunday morning on Highway 50 near Stateline at Lake Tahoe has been identified as Alex M. Moore, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

The accident happened between Lake Village and Elks Point Road and was reported at 12:44 a.m. Sunday morning, said NHP Trooper Chuck Allen. The pedestrian, whose identity has not been released pending notification of family, died at the scene of the accident.
