The Harrison Avenue Streetscape Improvement Project Planning Commission will meet Thursday, November 29th to consider the recommendations on adoption of the Initial Study/Negative Declaration/Initial Environmental Checklist and project Design Review. The meeting will be held at 3:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at Lake Tahoe Airport,

South Shore gets chance to comment on final draft of Lake Tahoe Regional Plan Update

Public comment will be taken today, Thursday, Nov. 15 on the final draft of the Regional Plan Update prepared by the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency.

The joint meeting of the Advisory Planning Commission and the Governing Board will be held at Harveys Lake Tahoe in Stateline. The meeting will include recommendations from the Regional Plan Update Committee on possible new proposals to the Regional Plan Update discussed in committee the day before. Public comment on the final draft documents will begin at 1 p.m. The Board is expected to take action on the Plan on December 12.

The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency is putting the finishing touches on the final draft Regional Plan Update and associated documents and would like to hear the public’s thoughts on the Plan during their two-day joint Advisory Planning Commission and Governing Board meetings taking place on Wednesday, November 14 at the Chateau in Incline Village, and Thursday, November 15 at Harveys Lake Tahoe in Stateline. The Board is expected to take action on the Plan on December 12.

The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency announced the winners of the Lake Spirit Awards honoring “real people making real progress protecting Lake Tahoe” at their second annual Community Appreciation Day event held on Sept. 27 at TRPA’s office.

Edgewood Lake Tahoe resort project approved by TRPA board

Lake Tahoe planning leaders gave their approval Thursday to a paradigm changing project at the South Shore, which would allow for a high-end resort complex at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course, the site of the American Century Championship.
The governing board of the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency unanimously approved the Edgewood Tahoe Lodge and Golf Course realignment project that will make way for the 154-room lodge. Construction could begin in 2014, according to the Tahoe Daily Tribune.

Two incumbents face field of challengers in City Council race

And they're off. Two incumbents — Hal Cole and Bruce Grego — will face three and possibly four challengers in the race for two seats on the South Lake Tahoe City Council in November.

The filing period ended at 5 p.m. Friday. If one of the incumbents had not filed, the filing period would have been extended by five days.

El Dorado County Transportation Offers Travel Model Workshop

The El Dorado County Department of Transportation is inviting the public to attend a workshop on the Travel Demand Model Update.
“If you have ever wondered how the county plans improvements to our transportation infrastructure, this workshop would be a good place to start,” said Claudia Wade, Senior Civil Engineer.

Lake Tahoe Valley Area Plan discussed today at workshop

The public is invited to attend the Tahoe Valley Area Plan Workshop this afternoon at 3 p.m. in the South Lake Tahoe City Council Chambers located at 1901 Airport Road.

Lake Tahoe agency honors fire chiefs, supports wildfire awareness week

The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency Governing Board passed a resolution in support of Lake Tahoe Wildfire Awareness Week and thanked the Tahoe Basin Fire Chiefs for their service during a ceremony at their May 26 Governing Board meeting.

Open Houses and hearings set for Lake Tahoe agency's Regional Plan Update

The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency has scheduled a series of open houses and public hearings to give the public an opportunity to provide input on the draft Regional Plan Update and Regional Transportation Plan, as well as the environmental documents that were released at last month’s Governing Board meetings.

TRPA community liaison Jeff Cowen honored by North Tahoe chamber

Tahoe Regional Planning Agency employee Jeff Cowen was honored as the recipient of the North Lake Tahoe Chamber and Resort Association’s Employee of the Year Award for his outstanding work as TRPA’s Community Liaison.
“I was shocked and truly honored to receive this recognition,” Cowen said about the award. “I am lucky in my job because I get to inform the community about all the great work being done by TRPA staff. I know I share this award with them,” he said.

Tahoe planning agency to look at Homewood plan; Upper Truckee river plan removed from agenda

The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency will hear plans on the Homewood project on the west shore but has scrapped plans to discuss the Upper Truckee River Restoration project during a two-day meeting of the Governing Board.
According to a news release, the Dec. 14 agenda remains unchanged and includes a proposed adoption of the Final Environmental Impact Review and Environmental Impact Statement for Homewood Mountain Resort. The meetings are on Wednesday, Dec. 14 at Granlibakken, and Thursday, Dec. 15 at the TRPA offices.

Most of the changes in the draft document will not need to wait for the TRPA’s scheduled adoption of the Regional Plan Update in 2012 to take effect. The TRPA Governing Board could vote to adopt the reformatted and more understandable version of the code in November of this year, according to the Agency.

TRPA Announces Community Appreciation Day and Lake Spirit Awards

The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency is hosting a Community Appreciation Day event on Thursday, September 29 from 4 - 7 pm to celebrate the Tahoe Basin community's commitment to protecting Lake Tahoe.

This fun, family event will include bluegrass music by local band, Bison, a free BBQ dinner, activities for the kids, an ice cream social hosted by members of TRPA's Governing Board and Advisory Planning Commission, and demonstration booths explaining TRPA's mission.

shopping center.
The project would replace the vacant service station at 1020 Emerald Bay Road, next to the Raley’s supermarket, which was recently demolished.
