Tahoe Art Walk - March 14, 2020

Event Date:
March 14, 2020 - 2:00pm

Every Second Saturday, Tahoe Art Walk takes place all along Tahoe’s South Shore from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. This fun, free, self-guided local art tour returns March 14th to bring you new art and new events. Follow the live map at www.TahoeArtWalk.com on your mobile device or print out the map before you head out.

Tahoe Art Walk spans from Stateline, Nevada to Meyers, California. Meet photographer Dirk Yuricich at his Stateline studio, and see his awe-inspiring landscape photography of Tahoe and the world.

Marcus Ashley Gallery in South Tahoe’s downtown presents Eric Christensen’s “Winter Show”. Eric Christensen uses traditional, transparent watercolor to create hyper-realistic images that seat you at the table in romantic wine country.

In Midtown, the Tahoe Art League welcomes you to the opening reception for “Black, White and a Hint of …”, the new group show at the beautiful, recently renovated Tahoe Art League Gallery. Check out the South Lake Tahoe, El Dorado County Library before 5:00 p.m. to see the whimsical and exuberant characters from the mind of Kevin Jamieson in this latest exhibit of the Tahoe Art League's "Art Around Town".

Lake Tahoe Community College is your campus for three closing receptions open to the public, with an all-acoustic performance by the Reno Swing Set happening just outside the Haldan Gallery in the library building. The three receptions include John McCarthy’s “A Layered Existence: Works Past and Present” in the Haldan Gallery, Adrienne Belair’s “Creature Comforts” installation in the Foyer Gallery, and the “Tahoe Art League Presents” members’ showcase in the main building.

Stop by Compass Clay Studio and take a selfie with “Frank Zappa”, the much talked about, nearly life-sized ceramic sculpture by Grace Weber, during a public reception for some of Tahoe’s most cutting-edge artists, the students from Lake Tahoe Community College’s Art Club. See mixed media work by Em Dumond, Grace Weber, Rigney Miller, Nicole Giuli, Patrick Hayward, Bri Ortega, Asher Witt, Elizabeth Vargas, Adrienne Belair, and Nick Fiegel. Want to get in the action? Sign up in advance for a specially priced 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. workshop at Compass Clay Studio to make a pot for your gold or a cup for your favorite leprechaun and have it fired in Jade Green high-fire glaze.

Keynote Used Records and Books is another new location this month, featuring the work of Cherie Pinsky, including small paintings and black and white/multicolored linoleum cut prints of historic cabins in and around Tahoe and paintings of Bodie (the mining ghost town).

Thank Benko Art Gallery for starting our month off with some snow. The opening for the much anticipated “Miracle March Group Art Show” of Ski and Snowboard themed art takes place at Benko Art Gallery during the art walk. Benko Art Gallery then takes you into the evening for some post-art walk live art, live music, and raffle prizes from 6 pm to midnight.
