Valhalla art camps for kids to start in July

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Valhalla Tahoe will be hosting three week-long sessions of Outdoor Painting Art Camps with local art teacher Gina Stowell. The camps will be held on the Grand Lawn and are designed to allow students to play through painting.

Two months of concerts kick off August 1 at Vahalla Boathouse Theater

For the next two months, the Valhalla Boathouse Theater at the Tallac Historic Site in South Lake tahoe will be home to several concerts, starting August 1.

Tea for Three: Lady Bird, Pat & Betty at Valhalla Art, Music and Theatre. Don't miss the highly acclaimed one woman show - Tea for Three: Lady Bird, Pat and Betty. Enjoy this production that humanizes the political scene with a story both whimsical and deeply moving - a behind-the-scenes look at Lady Bird Johnson, Pat Nixon, and Betty Ford. Share the journey of each as she deals with the fishbowl of First Ladydom.

Broadway in Blue: A Musical Revue opens July 5 at Boathouse Theater

Valhalla Tahoe is presenting Broadway in Blue starting July 5 and running two weekends. The show, a revue of contemporary and classic Broadway tunes performed by some of Lake Tahoe’s best singing and acting talent, was created by Gabriella Giocomo especially for Valhalla. Giocomo was one of three finalists in Valhalla’s WordWave One-Act play script competition in 2017. When she came for the stage reading hosted at the Boathouse Theatre she was inspired by the space and submitted the show in the winter of 2018 for review by Valhalla.

2018 Valhalla Art, Music and Theatre Festival schedule announced

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The coming months at the historic Valhalla Grand Hall, Grand Lawn and Boathouse Theater will be busy with a full slate of activities planned for the 2018 Valhalla Art, Music and Theatre Festival.

The festival is Valhalla Tahoe’s flagship event, a unique celebration of music, theatre and the visual arts. The festival is set against the magnificent backdrop of Lake Tahoe and the Tallac Historic Site. Looking forward to its 34th year, it is produced by Valhalla Tahoe.

The Festival begins in mid-June with events and activities that continue throughout August.

Great Sierra River Cleanup - Join the ninth annual Great Sierra River Cleanup in conjunction with California Coastal Cleanup day on September 16 starting at 8:00 a.m. Join hundreds of volunteers this day in cleaning up the Lake Tahoe region. (more info here)

New Valhalla Tahoe "Evening on the Lawn" concerts this summer

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The Valhalla Art, Music and Theatre festival schedule this summer is a full one and they've added a new event this summer, Evening Music on the Lawn.

The grand lawn at Valhalla has been a popular spot for Sunday afternoon concerts and now there will be two evening lawn concerts in 2017. Bring your lawn chairs and a picnic supper and enjoy some music, there will be a beer and wine garden too.

Artists sought for summer program at Valhalla in South Lake Tahoe

Valhalla Tahoe is looking for three artists to participate in this summer's Artists-in-Residence program in South Lake Tahoe in July and August.

As part of the Valhalla Art, Music & Theatre Festival, an annual summer arts festival at the historic Heller (Valhalla) Estate, the artists are highlighted in the Viking Gallery.

Valhalla Tahoe invites artists to submit a proposal for consideration for the 2017 season.

An Evening of Contemporary Classical Music with Citywater

An evening with Citywater is the next event for the Valhalla Art, Music and Theater Festival in South Lake Tahoe.

Hailed by Edward Ortiz as "a top-flight interpreter of contemporary classical music," Citywater is Sacramento's own modern chamber ensemble. Comprising flutist Cathie Apple, clarinetist Milun Doskovic, percussionist Ben Prima, pianist Jennifer Reason, violinist Dagenais Smiley, and cellist Timothy Stanley; Citywater strives to charm and challenge its audiences with the newest music written.

Free concert Sunday on lawn at Valhalla

Enjoy a Tahoe afternoon on the lawn at the historic Valhalla on Sunday, August 2 when the Sacramento band, Richie Lawrence and the Yolos perform.

Rain or shine, the concert will go on. If it rains, all will be moved indoors to the Boathouse Theater. This will be the last in Valhalla's FREE Concert on the Lawn series which is part of the Valhalla Art, Music & Theatre Festival.

The band is a mix of jazz, French folk and country, with original music.

Bring your beach chairs and lunch and enjoy music on the lawn.

Jazz artist presents 'Me and Bobby McGee' at Valhalla Boathouse

June Joplin, the beloved owner of Comma Coffee in Carson City is a talented jazz vocalist who is bringing her show, Me and Bobby McGee, to the Valhalla Art, Music and Theatre Festival in South Lake Tahoe on July 15.

The show will be in the historic 1920's boat house turned theater located at the Tallac Historic Site.

Valhalla's Art, Music & Theater Festival starts June 17

50th anniversary of National Preservation Act celebrated

Attendees of the Valhalla Art, Music and Theater Festival learned how to use a cross-cut saw, the primary tool still used today to keep trails open and accessible in the Wilderness. The event celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the 1964 National Wilderness Preservation Act.

U.S. Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit staff provided saws, logs and gloves and guided over 50 participants of all ages as they cut through a 10-inch log and received the souvenir slice branded with the 50th Wilderness Anniversary logo.

Valhalla Art and Music Festival wraps up season with two free concerts

On Sunday, August 17 Valhalla presents the final in the free Concert on the Lawn series. This is a special free kids concert featuring the acclaimed children’s act the Banana Slug String Band. Their music is original and full of inspiring positive messages about taking care of each other and the environment. Everyone is invited to bring a picnic and join sit on the Grand Lawn at Valhalla from noon to 2:00 p.m.
