Mars to shine brighter than it has in more than a decade; Viewing party Saturday

Event Date:
July 28, 2018 - 8:00pm

If you've looked at the night sky lately you've probably noticed what looks like a very bright (and red) star. It's not a star though, it's Mars, and it's shining brighter than it has in more than a decade.

From July 27 until July 30, it will be Mars Opposition, the time when Mars and the sun are on directly opposite sides of Earth. It will appear Mars is rising in the east just as the sun sets in the west.

Mars will be closer to the Earth than normal during this time.

Those two things are making the Red Planet appear brighter than usual.

Lake Tahoe homes featured on May 27 episode of HGTV's House Hunters

Event Date:
May 27, 2015 - 7:00pm

Fans of HGTV’s House Hunters may see some familiar scenery on the May 27 episode, which features a Bay Area couple’s search for the perfect Lake Tahoe mountain home.

Travis and Morgan Fields of Oakland were working with Chase International’s Angie Clark last spring when they decided to invite the show to follow them on their quest. HGTV producers and a film crew visited Lake Tahoe to film the couple on their South Lake Tahoe search. The episode, “Looking for a Log Cabin Vacation Home in Lake Tahoe,” will air Wednesday, May 27 at 7 p.m. It will air again through the weekend.

South Lake Tahoe new home hunting experience filmed for HGTV's House Hunters

A home search in South Lake Tahoe will be the subject of an upcoming episode of HGTV's House Hunters.

Travis and Morgan Fields of Oakland, CA were working with Chase International Realtor Angie Clark when the couple contacted the television show about their home search being part of the popular show.

All three of them had to fill out questionnaires and send in audition tapes.

“The audition tape was a little daunting,” Angie said. “My husband filmed it for me and it took a few tries. We submitted the video and just thought that would be the end of that.”
