"Community" the key word in new Ski Run Community Park - Grand Opening Sept. 6

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Just a few years ago it was a fenced-in empty lot left after the old Slalon Inn was removed in 1999 for the transfer of development rights needed for the reconfigured Safeway in South Lake Tahoe. Tired of seeing just a fence and dirt, along with a need for open space for children to go in the Ski Run Boulevard area, a group of locals envisioned a community park.

7th annual Reef's Run at Lake Tahoe to support the Hydrocephalus Association

September 8, 2024 - 9:00am

LAKE TAHOE, Nev. - The 7th annual Reef's Run will be held on Sunday, September 8, 2024, at 9 a.m. Once again the run will be both starting and ending at Round Hill Pines Resort.

Sign-in and registration start at 7:30 a.m. and there be coffee, water, and light snacks to get your day started right. After the run, enjoy an ice-cold beer for those 21 and over, and ice cream for the kids provided by Crystal Creamery! Stay around for their awards ceremony, silent auction and raffle, face painting, music, snacks, and more.

Affordable housing workshop in South Lake Tahoe open to the community

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Join the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) at their upcoming affordable housing community workshop on Monday, September 9 at 6:30 p.m. at Bijou Community School Multi-purpose Room. Learn about a new project that aims to tackle the housing crisis in Lake Tahoe while protecting and improving the environment.

American Legion Post 795 hosts 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The Stella Van Dyke Johnson American Legion Post 795 of South Lake Tahoe is inviting the Lake Tahoe community and visitors to join members of the American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary, and the Sons of the American Legion for a ceremony to remember the victims of September 11, 2001. The ceremony begins at 11 a.m. on Wed., Sept. 11, 2024, at the American Legion Hall, 2748 Lake Tahoe Boulevard.

Live music will be provided by local favorite, Cash Only Band’s Davin Kangas with soloist, Jill Sharlow. Light refreshments by Tacos Por Favor Catering will be served.

Of course, Tahoe visitors are welcome to join in on the fun! We are dedicated to bringing farmers right to your table, so we stay open rain or shine. Talk Saves Lives: A brief introduction to suicide prevention

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) is hosting a presentation on September 12, 2024, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Cowork Tahoe.

This presentation will cover what we know about this leading cause of death, the most up-to-date research on prevention, and what we can all do to fight suicide. Participants will learn the common risk factors for suicide, how to spot the warning signs in others, and how to keep ourselves, our loved ones, and those in our community safe.

Tahoe El Dorado Area Plan updates at upcoming workshop

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. — El Dorado County will host a virtual workshop for the Tahoe El Dorado Area Plan (TED Area Plan) to share the review progress made to date, summarize community input from the previous online survey and community workshops held in June 2024, and provide a preview of next steps in the process. The workshop will be held September 12 from 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.
