Programming changes at Capital Public Radio

If you tuned into your pre-set Capital Public Radio station Tuesday night expecting to hear "Excellence in Jazz" you may have wondered where it went. Don't worry, it didn't go away, it's now on a new station.
Effective Tuesday Capital Public radio moved "Excellence In Jazz" and several other of its music programs from KXJZ 90.9/KUOP 91.3/KKTO 90.5/KQNC 88.1 over to its music station at 88.9 KXPR/ 91.7 KXSR, and 88.7 KXJS.

Smoke and fire in the Lake Tahoe Basin continues

A day after heavy smoke from a west slope prescribed fire in the Eldorado National Forest carried into the Lake Tahoe Basin, another controlled burn is planned closer to home before the onset of winter storms, according to the U.S. Forest Service. League to Save Lake Tahoe Names Darcie Goodman-Collins as New Executive Director

South Shore native Darcie Goodman-Collins has been named the new executive director of the League to Save Lake Tahoe, officials announced today. She replaces Rochelle Nason who resigned last September.

“I’m very excited to move back to Lake Tahoe. I grew up skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, and waterskiing on our beautiful lake. I am passionate about science, education, and the Lake. I will lead the League’s efforts to restore the Lake and work hand in hand with the local community to do so,” said Goodman-Collins in a news release.

New proposal would exclude Lake Tahoe Basin from Nevada bear hunt

Nevada’s second bear-hunting season would be shorter and no hunting allowed within the Lake Tahoe Basin under new regulations proposed by Nevada wildlife officials.
