Submitted by Editor on Wed, 02/22/2012 - 1:30pmThe South Lake Tahoe Police Department desires to share some important information with our public about the raising of speed limit on US Highway 50 through the city limits. Based upon the latest Caltrans traffic and engineering study, the speed limit will increase by 5 mph from what is currently posted. However, until the new speed limit signs are posted along US Highway 50, the existing speed limit signs are currently not enforceable, per se. While we are in this transition, we strongly encourage our residents and visitors to continue following the currently posted speed limit signs.

Nevada state Treasurer Kate Marshall said the state initially expected only 10 to 11 cents on the dollar when the firm filed for bankruptcy protection during the height of the nation’s financial crisis.

Sgt. Jim Halsey of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office said investigation is "ongoing" and "no additional details can be released at this time" regarding the woman's death, reported early Sunday morning, Feb. 19.
Lake Tahoe planning agency announces 2011 Best in The Basin award winners
