Utility District to meet Thursday

The South Tahoe Public Utility District will have a regular board meeting on Thursday, February 2 at 2 p.m. at the District office at 1275 Meadow Crest Drive. The agenda can be found here.

Items on the agenda include a resolution establishing criteria for determining whether a public works project is "substantially complex.” Defining a project in this way will allow the District to withhold retention funds for contractors higher than the federal limit, which is 5 percent.

Could Winter X Games land at Lake Tahoe?

Could the Winter X Games be moving to a Lake Tahoe ski resort? This year’s Winter X Games concluded Sunday, and also concluding was a contract that the X Games had with Aspen’s Buttermilk Mountain. The contract expired and ESPN, which is the event owner, could be looking for another venue.

Liam Neeson is the de facto leader after a jet carrying oil field workers crashes in the Alaskan wilderness. It is directed by Joe Carnahan, who also directed 2006's "Smokin' Aces" which was set at South Lake Tahoe and filmed inside MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa.

Ripperoo Parade in the Heavenly Village

Ripperoo, Heavenly’s loveable mascot, will give children the chance to star in their own parade as they play music, sing songs, and march through Heavenly Village.
