Moving Forward after The IHOP Tragedy
Submitted by Editor on Sat, 10/22/2011 - 6:19pmThe windows on the front of the Carson City IHOP were broken when a gunman opened fire inside the restaurant last month. Saturday morning, workers could be seen inside and outside of the restaurant on South Carson Street - putting in new windows. An IHOP spokesperson told KOLO 8 News Now that the restaurant is scheduled to reopen before the holidays, however she would not give an exact date. On this same weekend, members of the community came together to help out those who survived the shooting rampage. Go here for the story and video.

Burn pile catches fire on Upper Kingsbury
Submitted by Editor on Fri, 10/21/2011 - 10:52amFire crews have responded this morning to upper Kingsbury Grade where a small fire broke out near the Tahoe Rim Trail across from Andrea Court.
The fire apparently started from a smoldering burn pile. It spread to about 10 feet by 10 feet in size and was reported at around 11:35. Multiple fire units from Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District responded and have knocked it down.

Smoke is from planned South Shore prescribed fires

Service fuels management crews have resumed prescribed fire operations on the south side of the intersection of Pioneer Trail and U.S. Highway 50.
In addition, operations were to resume in the Angora fire area weather permitting. Both operations may continue through the week.
