The focus of this year’s ceremony was celebrating the grit and determination demonstrated by this graduating class to reach this day.
Several speakers touched on this idea, honoring the nearly 250 degree and certificate earners at LTCC who rose above the uncertainty and ambiguity of recent years to meet their educational and personal goals.

One-way traffic control on State Route 267 scheduled for bridge inspection

Caltrans structures maintenance crews will be conducting routine inspections of the bypass bridge between the Interstate 80 separation and Old Brockway Road/Soaring Way on Wednesday, June 29 between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Work in the area also will include drainage cleaning. One-way traffic control will be in effect on SR-267 during the inspection work.

Sheriff D’Agostini and Senator Brian Dahle spoke at the event in front of “Ish’s” family, friends, and his law enforcement family. The signs were then mounted on both eastbound and westbound at US-50 and Missouri Flat Road.

Daniel A. Parkhurst, 41, pleaded guilty on February 22, 2022, to one count of interference with flight crew members and attendants, and one count of simple assault in the special aircraft jurisdiction of the United States.

The second and most important lesson is that achieving anything requires each of us to find common ground, get over our turf, and work toward shared goals. Sounds simple, but in today’s fractured world, working to find common ground takes special work and the work is never done.

Washoe County Sheriff’s Office safely evacuated all occupants of the Incline Village restaurant.
The fire was knocked down quickly with damage contained to the area of origin.
NLTFPD thanks its agency partners Nevada Highway Patrol, Washoe County Sheriff's Office, Nevada State Parks, and North Tahoe Fire Protection District.

It will involve dialogue among Christian (various denominations), Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, Jewish, Baha’i, Native-American faiths; and even include an Atheist thinker. Christian speakers will represent Roman Catholic, Protestant, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints traditions.
After presentations, diverse religious leaders will be open to questions by the public. The organizers plan to make this gathering an annual feature.
15 years since the Angora Fire - What has changed?
Submitted by paula on Fri, 06/24/2022 - 11:03pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - It has been 15 years since the Angora Fire swept through the North Upper Truckee and Angora Ridge neighborhoods of El Dorado County, taking with it 242 homes and 67 commercial structures as wind-driven flames burned through 3,100 acres.
It was a sunny afternoon on June 24, 2007, when the first calls of fire came in at 2:15 p.m. Within a few hours, the devastation was already evident but it was over a week before the fire was completely contained.

The Friends of Snowshoe Thompson organization is holding a celebration of the statue on Saturday, June 25 in the park starting at 10 a.m., followed by a celebration of life for Nina Eggen MacLeod at 11 a.m.
Speakers include author Frank Tortorich, Dr. James Duke, Lars and Craig MacLeod, Don Budy.

Intermittent offramp closures on I-80 next week from Truckee to Kingvale

A $2.4 million project is addressing deteriorated interstate on- and off-ramps at various locations in Nevada and Placer counties. Ramps throughout the Sierra corridor may be closed intermittently for paving, joint sealing, striping, and concrete curing time.

Part-time South Lake Tahoe residents die in Washington rafting tragedy

The father has been identified as John Coleman. He and his family had a second home in the county area of the South Shore for over ten years, and neighbors are mourning the loss of members of what they said was a "fun-loving" family.

One "amazing dog" ready for forever home after five weeks on the run, two rescues, one escape
Submitted by paula on Thu, 06/23/2022 - 10:00pmA stray dog that survived more than five weeks on her own, during which time she was hit by a car and suffered injuries, is finally rehabilitated and ready for adoption. The dog's name is Estrella and she was first spotted in Tahoe City back in February. It took several tries and several weeks for animal control to rescue her. During that time, she was reportedly hit by a car and suffered injuries. Now, after extensive physical and mental rehabilitation, the Humane Society of Truckee Tahoe (HSTT) is thrilled to announce she is available for adoption.
County moves from Code RED system to El Dorado County Emergency Alerts

The El Dorado County Office of Emergency Services partnered with CalOES to bring a new system, El Dorado County Emergency Alerts. This notification service goes to residents and businesses by app, telephone, cell phone, text message, email, and social media when there is a threat to the health or safety of residents.

NEO Connect, a broadband consulting firm, has been retained to conduct the analysis and present recommendations. The City Council recognizes the importance of high-speed broadband to the community in order to improve employment, educational, and economic development opportunities. The study directly addresses the City Council’s Strategic Priority 1.1 “Broadband for All” initiative.

The South Lake Tahoe Optimist Club is holding the 18th annual Day in Paradise with Duck Races on Saturday, August 6 from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. It will be held at Tahoe Paradise Park in Meyers with the ducks traveling on the Upper Truckee River starting at 1 p.m.
Enjoy a day with a car show, food trucks, free kids games, live music, a beer garden, and a silent auction.
Duck race tickets are one for $5 or a six-quack for $30. First place duck wins $300, second at $200, and third walks away with $100. There are also business ducks for $100.

Tahoe Transportation District relaunches East Shore Express for 2022 Summer season

The free transit line provides beachgoers and trail users recreation access from Incline Village, along SR28 to Sand Harbor Lake Tahoe State Park, and back again.
Last year, TTD had to suspend the East Shore Express due to a staffing shortage on the heels of COVID-19 pandemic service suspensions.
The service runs a continuous loop daily, including holidays, from the old Incline Village school site at 771 Southwood Boulevard to Sand Harbor State Park on State Route 28.

Lake Tahoe will take care of both of those and Steph, his dad Dell and brother Seth head to the South Shore for the 33rd annual American Century Championship at Lake Tahoe, July 8-10.
Caltrans working on several road projects from South Lake Tahoe to Camino on US-50, expect delays
Submitted by paula on Wed, 06/22/2022 - 6:00amEL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. – Caltrans is alerting the traveling public to several ongoing projects impacting traffic on the U.S. Highway 50 corridor in El Dorado County.
Construction continues on a $55.4 million safety project on Highway 50 from Still Meadows Road to upper Carson Road in Camino to build a continuous concrete median barrier, an undercrossing for access north and south of the highway, drainage improvements, a wildlife undercrossing, and a roundabout connecting to the new undercrossing.
