El Dorado County 2011 Sheriff's Report; future challenges include county gaining more inmates

To the citizens of El Dorado County,
The year 2011 is wrapped up, and so is my first year as your Sheriff. This year end report is to provide you, the community we serve, with information outlining some of the achievements by the men and women that make up your Sheriff’s Office. I believe it is my obligation to keep you, as the taxpayers of El Dorado County, informed as to the direction and accomplishments of this office.

Housing market adds stress to divorcing couples

Wayne Brady performs live at the MontBleu Theater

Comedian, TV star and singer Wayne Brady will have the audience in stitches with his inaugural MontBleu stand-up performance, Feb. 18. The Expendables with MTHDS, Through the Roots, and Fortunate Youth at the MontBleu Theater

The Expendables, a Santa Cruz based-group that blends reggae, punk rock and ’80s style dueling guitar solos, will rock the MontBleu Theater, Feb. 11. The group was a crowd favorite at the annual summer music festival, Warp Tour in California. With five albums down and countless miles traveled for tours they continue to pump up audiences. Sublime with Rome at MontBleu with special guest Everlast

Sublime with Rome are the remaining members of the iconic ’90s Southern California ska, rock and punk band Sublime. Joined by singer-guitarist Rome Ramirez, the re-grouped band will bring memorable riffs, beats and lyrics to the MontBleu Theater, March 11. The roots of the new band took shape when two original members teamed with Ramirez to bring back the iconic sound of early ’90s Sublime frontman, the late Bradley Nowell.

Lawmaker Review Of 45-Year-Old Nevada Public Education Funding Plan Hits Financial Roadblock

CARSON CITY – A panel of lawmakers today began a review of the state’s 45-year-old formula for funding public education with an eye towards addressing the needs of the state’s urban districts as they work to educate special education students, English-language learners and children in poverty.

The panel is still searching for funding for a study to help in the review, however. The failure to find private funding for a study could jeopardize any meaningful review in this interim, lawmakers were told.
