City of South Lake Tahoe - State of the City Address
Submitted by Editor on Thu, 10/13/2011 - 4:54pmThe City of South Lake Tahoe will have a regular meeting at 9 AM which will include the State of the City address by Mayor Hal Cole.
The city is currently embattled with budget problems, leading to a showdown between employees bargaining units and city negotiators.
The regular meeting will be followed by a Special Budget Meeting to discuss remedies for a $5.2 million budget shortfall.

City of South Lake Tahoe Special Budget Meeting
Submitted by Editor on Thu, 10/13/2011 - 4:44pmThe South Lake Tahoe City Council will hold a Special Budget Meeting to pass the Budget for Fiscal Year 2011-2012. This is a follow up to the Special Budget Meeting of September 15, in which the budget was presented but vote by council was postponed until October. The city is functioning on an interim budget until October 31, 2011.
The city is facing a budget shortfall and seeking to lay off workers as a remedy.

U.S. Forest Service fire and fuels management crews will be conducting prescribed fire operations in the Andria Drive area off Kingsbury Grade in Stateline, Nev., through the rest of the week. If conditions allow, the Forest Service also may resume operations in the Angora area, focusing on the area below Angora Ridge Rd. and west of Mule Deer Circle. The number of acres will depend on weather conditions and other factors.
