Lake Tahoe Pride - The Human Library

Event Date:
October 24, 2023 - 5:00pm Ever wonder what life is like for a transgender person? Do you ever hear or see the word pansexual, non-binary, or genderqueer and wonder...what does that mean for a person? Do you hesitate to ask questions with the worry that they might offend someone? Here's your opportunity to overcome that shyness. Come to the Human Library and immerse yourself in a story told by a human book.
The Human Library will be held on October 24 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Roberta Mason Library at Lake Tahoe Community College.
A Human Library is a space for human books and readers to engage and converse. Human books tell their story and readers are able to listen and respond thoughtfully with follow-up questions. Although a traditional library often contains a wide assortment of books, a human library focuses on human identities that are typically stigmatized, misunderstood, or unfamiliar to the average person. For this inaugural event in South Lake Tahoe, we are inviting the general public to learn about our LGBTQIA+ community. We have a wonderful line-up of human books who have been prepared to share their story and interact with you from a place of curiosity and (un)learning.
