Letter to the Editor - Tahoe Township Justice of the Peace

Dear Editor: I write to encourage my fellow Tahoe Township residents to be engaged and vote in all local elections in November. The contested races where one can have the greatest impact are those with the smallest number of eligible voters. One race I think is of particular importance is Justice of the Peace for Tahoe Township. I hope everyone will take the time to research the two candidates and vote for the one they feel is most qualified to complete the tasks at hand.

I will be casting my ballot to retain Judge Michael K. Johnson (no relation).

Over the years, I have been fortunate to learn more about Judge Johnson in professional settings and, most recently, after having sought advice from the judge on community matters. I have found his calm demeanor, deliberative thought process, open mind, and overall dedication to equitable outcomes make him an outstanding jurist for our area. I feel fortunate that we have someone of Judge Johnson’s ability striving to better our community on a daily basis.

Like Judge Richard Glasson (former Tahoe Township Justice of the Peace) who served before him, Judge Johnson honed his craft over decades in local private practice litigating issues of the day. This prior experience of being in the trenches on the other side of the bench served Judges Glasson and Johnson well.

Only one candidate in this election has the relevant experience necessary to serve us best, and that makes it a clear choice for Judge Johnson on Nov. 5.

Please join me and my family in voting to retain Judge Johnson.

Sincerely,

Ben Johnson
