Second special LTUSD board meeting for discussion of reduction in workforce

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Due to concerns brought forward regarding a procedural process at the Lake Tahoe Unified School District (LTUSD) special board meeting on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, along with the Board’s interest in providing an additional opportunity for public comment regarding the reduction in force, the Board will hold a special meeting on Friday, March 15, at noon at the District Office.

Some parents and teachers felt they did not have fair notice of what was going to be discussed at the Tuesday meeting - the required meeting before handing out notices that some personnel would be losing their jobs if the budget didn't pan out in favor of the spending.

Superintendent Dr. Todd Cutler said the Friday meeting gives people a chance to speak. He said the District had heard the concerns and wanted to make sure all could speak on the matter. The agenda includes Board and Superintendent reports as well as the resolution previously voted on.

Special meeting agendas need to be posted at least 24 hours before a meeting, and regular meeting agendas 48 hours. Even though the Tuesday meeting agenda was posted on the LTUSD website almost exactly 24 hours ahead of time, many did not know it was being held.
