Vail awards $2.8 million in grant support to 76 Lake Tahoe area nonprofits
Submitted by paula on Tue, 02/18/2020 - 2:04pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Vail Resorts EpicPromise has selected 76 local nonprofits in the Lake Tahoe area to receive one of their 2019-20 community grants, totaling $2.8 million in grant support.
Heavenly Mountain Resort and Kirkwood recently held a breakfast to honor the recipients. The followed with a similar celebration at Northstar, the third area Vail resort.
Vail Resorts gives $1.9M to 93 Tahoe-Truckee area nonprofits
Submitted by paula on Tue, 12/04/2018 - 8:37pmLAKE TAHOE, Calif. - During their annual community grant EpicPromise celebration, 93 local nonprofits were awarded a total of $1.9 million in cash as well as additional in-kind product support. Across the company, Vail Resorts will give $11.4 million in support to more than 250 community non-profits over the upcoming year.
Each year Vail gives away money and product to groups serving the communities they have resorts located. For Kirkwood, Heavenly and Northstar, support was given to support the health and resilience of the Truckee and South Lake Tahoe communities.

The annual Art, Wine and Music Festival will return to The Village at Squaw Valley on July 14 and 15, celebrating its 17th anniversary. In celebration of the event, visitors can taste some of California’s finest wines at wine tastings while enjoying performances from national and international artists on three different stages. The event, which also features local and regional artisans, takes place on Saturday, July 14 and Sunday, July 15, 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
22 disabled veterans heading to Lake Tahoe for special week at Squaw Valley/Alpine Meadows
Submitted by paula on Sun, 03/11/2018 - 12:06pmTwenty-two injured veterans will arrive at the Reno-Tahoe airport Sunday evening and head to Squaw Valley / Alpine Meadows for 3rd annual Military to the Mountains program through March 17, 2018.
Eight of the veterans are residents of the Reno/Sparks area and will join the arrival celebration at 7:45 p.m. at the airport near the ski statue.
The week long adaptive ski week is sponsored by High Fives Foundation, Adaptive Training Foundation, City of Reno, Achieve Tahoe and Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows.
'Ability Bash’ fundraiser honors veterans and participants with disabilities

The annual 'Ability Bash" fundraiser at Squaw Valley on January 28 will wrap up a week-long Military Sports Camp for disabled veterans. The event will honor the veterans as well as the participants with disabilities who work with Achieve Tahoe throughout the year.
Achieve Tahoe is a provider of winter and summer adaptive sports instruction at all ability levels for adults and children with disabilities. The Ability Bash will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the resort's conference center.
Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows donate to injured veterans program
Submitted by paula on Mon, 05/30/2016 - 9:13pmSquaw Valley/Alpine Meadows made a donation to the High Fives Foundation in the amount of $150,000 to commemorates Memorial Day and honor U.S. military veterans.
The foundation's “Military to the Mountains” program will receive the donation so injured veterans can be trained on the slopes. The program, a partnership between Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows, High Fives Foundation, Achieve Tahoe (formerly Disabled Sports USA Far West) and Adaptive Training Foundation, hosts and trains injured veterans of the United States armed forces on the slopes of Squaw Valley.
Active duty military offered season pass to Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows for $25
