Anna van der Breggen wins Amgen women's race; Katie Hall second

On Sunday the four-stage Amgen Breakaway from Heart DiseaseTM Women's Race empowered with SRAM concluded with Boels-Dolmans’ 2016 Olympic Games road race gold medalist Anna van der Breggen (NED) taking the overall win. Van der Breggen rode into the final race day one second behind UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling’s Katie Hall (Saratoga, Calif.) and earned valuable Sprint points during today’s Sacramento circuit race to take the overall race victory by one second. Today’s result also keeps Van der Breggen at the top of the UCI world rankings.

Coryn Rivera takes Stage 3 of Amgen women's race; Hall keeps yellow jersey

Katie Hall, the cyclist who won Amgen Stage 2 in South Lake Tahoe. retained the leader jersey after Stage 3 on Saturday which took racers 73.3 miles from Elk Grove to Sacramento. Hall, who races for UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team, placed 17 in Stage 3.

The winner was American Coryn Rivera who races for Team Sunweb from the Netherlands.

American Katie Hall wins Stage 2 of Amgen women's race in Lake Tahoe

The winner of Stage 2 of the 2017 Amgen Breakaway From Heart Disesase Women's Race Empowered with SRAM race in South Lake Tahoe was decided on the last uphill climb of the day on Ski Run Blvd, the last kilometer of a long and hilly, 67.1 mile long race.

Katie Hall of the United States crossed the finish line first, edging Dutch cyclist Anna van der Breggen by 21 seconds.

On Thursday and Friday, May 11 and 12, over 120 of the world's elite cyclists will descend upon Lake Tahoe for Amgen Breakaway from Heart DiseaseTM Women’s Race empowered with SRAM. Volunteers sought for Amgen Women's Race in Lake Tahoe

The committee organizing Amgen Breakaway from Heart DiseaseTM Women's Race empowered with SRAM at Lake Tahoe, May 11-12 is looking for volunteers to help out in several areas.

Positions include course marshals, security and check-in. Marshals assist race staff and local law enforcement authorities along the route monitoring pedestrian traffic, road closures, and updating spectators as the race progresses. No experience is necessary.

A new route was revealed today with the women racing over Luther Pass and Kingsbury Grade on the second day of their race.

Amgen Women's Race returns to Lake Tahoe for two stages in 2017

Amgen Tour of California announced today that professional cycling will return to Lake Tahoe, May 11-12, 2017. The Amgen Breakaway from Heart Disease Women's Race will include the overall start and Stage 2 on consecutive days. The women’s competition will conclude with a third stage in Elk Grove, May 13 and the final in Sacramento, May 14.

The men's race is skipping Lake Tahoe this year and is set to begin in Sacramento on May 14.

As South Lake Tahoe prepares to host Stages 1 & 2 of the AMGEN Tour of California Women's Race on May 8-9, people are working throughout the community, preparing for all of the events surrounding the world class cycling event.

Top women cyclists coming to Lake Tahoe; Amgen Tour course goes through town

Exciting times for South Lake Tahoe in May as the community shines on the international stage as the location of the first stage of the Amgen Tour of California. Fourteen teams consisting of 84 of the top professional women racers will be in town for the race May 8-9, 2015. The racers consist of Olympic medalists, World Champions, Tour de France competitors and other cyclists from the National and International field.

Many of the teams have already been in the area getting ready for the Lake Tahoe stop on their tour. As we get closer to May 8, more of the participants will be in town.
