KRNV: Feds not pursuing South Lake Tahoe bribery charges
Submitted by Editor on Mon, 11/05/2012 - 12:53pmThe El Dorado County District Attorney's Office will drop all charges against Gino DiMatteo and let federal authorities take over because there are higher criminal penalties in that legal system, MyNews4.com is reporting. KRNV has received the first copy of the unsealed criminal complaint by the federal government and in that complaint a bribery charge is not mentioned. DiMatteo was originally charged with attempting to bribe South Lake Tahoe City Councilwoman Angela Swanson.
KRNV Reno: South Lake Tahoe bribery case might be linked to local education charity

The El Dorado County District Attorney's Office still hasn't said what the alleged bribe by Gino DiMatteo was or who it went to, but over the past few days News 4's Fact Finder team has nailed down that Swanson is at the center of the investigation and that it has confirmed a time frame when it might have happened.

Quiet Council Meeting Yields Interim Budget

The South Lake Tahoe City Council met Tuesday to pass an interim budget in an effort to have more time to work out labor negotiation and budget shortfall issues that have the community up in arms. There were no comments offered by council or the public, and the motion passed unanimously. Prior to the meeting there was a closed session for bargaining units to meet, and following was another closed session for council to hear the latest of the negotiations.
