10:55 a.m. update: Crews have fixed the primary wire that went down in the Angora Creek area Thursday morning. At first restoration was estimated at by 2:30 p.m. It is unknown how the wire came down.

Crews from Liberty Utilities are on their way to the US50 and Angora Creek area due to customers reporting partial, or no power.

The affected area includes Dixie Mountain Rd, Pyramid Court and Circle, Mt. Shasta Circle and Snow Mountain.

South Lake Tahoe, Calif. - El Dorado County has closed Lake Tahoe Blvd at Sawmill Pond due to flooding just before 11:00 a.m. It is closed in both directions according to the California Highway Patrol with over two feet of water on the roadway. They are expecting the flooding to spread in the area.

South Lake Tahoe Police Department is assisting with signage going up to warn travelers.

12:52 p.m. Sunday update - Highway 50 at Sierra at Tahoe Blvd is experiencing flooding. Reports of high water at Apache Drive in Meyers by the Post Office, and Lake Tahoe Blvd around Angora Creek.

There are seven scheduled prescribed fire operations in the Lake Tahoe Basin this week in the areas of Logan Shoals Vista Point, Camp Galilee, Angora Creek burn area, Round Hill, Shakespeare Rock and the Spring Creek area.

At the Logan Creek Overlook there are 15 acres of hand piles being burned, with an ignition date of February 16 and will continue as conditions allow. Smoke should travel in a north to northeast direction.

The U.S. Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit will resume work this week at Angora Creek near South Lake Tahoe. Crews will construct 700 feet of new stream channel to replace the existing Angora Creek channel, which was rerouted and straightened in the early 1900s to accommodate livestock grazing. Seneca Pond, constructed in 1964 when the area was under private ownership, will be returned to a wetland.

A multi-agency prescribed fire operation begins on Saturday, October 18 as the Tahoe Fire and Fuels Team has crews from Tahoe Douglas Fire and the U.S. Forest Service at several locations around the lake.

Fall and winter bring cooler temperatures and precipitation, which favor prescribed burning. Each operation follows a prescribed fire burn plan, which considers temperature, humidity, wind, moisture of the vegetation, and conditions for the dispersal of smoke. This information is used to decide when and where to burn.

Two miles of the Angora Creek area is getting post-fire restoration work by the U.S. Forest Service over the next two months.

The project is needed on the area after the 2007 Angora Fire to prevent future channel erosion and to improve the aquatic habitat for fish and amphibians. To accomplish this they will strategically place downed logs.

The Tahoe Fund, the first and only nonprofit in the Tahoe Basin dedicated to raising money for environmental improvement projects, announced Wednesday the appointment of Timothy Cashman as chair of the board of directors.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit affirmed Thursday a district court ruling upholding Lake Tahoe area environmental analysis for the Angora fire area fuels reduction project.
The Angora Restoration Project was designed to protect wildlife habitat as well as reduce long-term wildfire risk to Lake Tahoe area communities. Two environmental groups, Earth Island Institute and Center for Biological Diversity, tried to stop arguing it would harm the black-backed woodpecker.
