Child Advocates of El Dorado is holding its first one-hour virtual Gala on November 7 starting at 6:00 p.m.
The event is free to attend, but it is the local Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) annual fundraiser, hosted this year by Eileen Javora Boeger. There will be live entertainment by world-renown performance painter David Garibaldi.
CASA El Dorado benefits the community by serving the abused, neglected and at-risk children in our county’s foster care system. This is accomplished by recruiting, training, and supervising volunteers from the community.
Lake Valley Fire Protection District helping locals with food and donations
Submitted by paula on Thu, 04/02/2020 - 11:57amMEYERS, Calif. - The members of the Lake Valley Fire Protection District (LVFPD) help the community every day as first responders and protecting the community, but they are now adding on a new role.
They have donated money as well as started a program to go grocery shopping for the elderly in their district or for those unable to get to the store due to coronavirus impacts.
Last week members of the district's foundation presented a check for $1,000 to Bread & Broth to help supply food to those in the community who are impacted by layoffs due to the coronavirus.
Tahoe Magic serves the community during times of crisis

The 501c3 non-profit was founded in 1994 and has helped low-income families on a year-round basis with one-time crisis funding, but that role is now growing due to the current COVID-19 health and economic crisis. Tahoe Magic recently launched its new website TahoeMagic to show how those in need can be assisted.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The Soroptimist International Club of Tahoe Sierra (SITS) invites the community to their weekly meeting on Thursday, February 27 when they feature Barton Health's Neurology Specialist, Rituparna Das, MD. The doctor will share insights on brain function and brain health.
The meeting will be from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. at the South Lake Tahoe Senior Center, 3050 Lake Tahoe Blvd. Coffee will be served and both men and women are invited.
Sierra-at-Tahoe offering special lift ticket prices to help raise money for local groups

"Sierra For Tahoe" will be February 10-13, 2020, and funds raised by these special ticket sales will support Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care, Lake Tahoe Community College Foundation, Lake Tahoe Educational Foundation, and Sierra-at-Tahoe Education Foundation.
Instead of the normal $110-$125 life tickets, participants can purchase their daily passes for only $75.
Pizza for Pups raising funds for Animal Coalition of Tahoe

The Animal Coalition of Tahoe (ACT) is holding "Pizza for Pups," their annual fundraiser at Blue Dog Pizza Midtown, on Tuesday, February 26.
For just $12, you will enjoy a buffet of some of Blue Dog's most popular pizzas, plus a free raffle ticket. (Kids under 12 are just $5.00.) Additional raffle tickets are just $1.00.
The rest of Blue Dog's menu and their large selection of beer and wine will be available for purchase.
There are two sittings for dinner, 6:00 p.m. or 7:00 p.m.

Soroptimists of Tahoe Sierra give away 3,200 books to local students
Submitted by paula on Thu, 06/14/2018 - 11:12pmThe Soroptimist International of Tahoe Sierra club members got together this week to give away 3.200 books to K-8 students in Lake Tahoe Unified School District, and at Zephyr Cove Elementary and Whittell High School.
This is an annual project for the club, spearheaded by long time member Cookie Rork. Literacy is a key goal of the club, and a book bag and book to take home for the summer encourages reading for fun.
Teachers provide the club with individual reading levels of their students and the orders are filled.

The Tahoe Coalition for the Homeless is holding their annual fundraiser, Homebrew for the Homeless, on Saturday, September 23 at the DDRC in Minden, Nevada from 3:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
This is a family-friendly event, presented in collaboration with Hops Envy, and will feature live music, a homebrew beer competition, Poker Run, chili cook-off as well as horseback rides, face painting lawn games and bounce house for children. There will also be food and non-alcoholic beverages. There will also be a silent auction.

The Animal Coalition of Tahoe (ACT) is holding their annual fundraiser, Pizza for Pups, at the midtown Blue Dog Pizza on Wednesday, January 25 to raise funds for their spay and neutering program and for the animal shelter in Meyers.
For $10 for adults, and $5 for kids under 12, participants get to enjoy pizza while raising funds for ACT.

The Kiwanis Club of Tahoe Sierra will be holding their 14th annual SeptOberfest at MontBleu Resort on Thursday, September 22 at 6:00 p.m.
This annual fundraiser benefits local youth and families and is always a fun time full of great food, beer, wine and silent auction. Besides a full German buffet there will also be live auctions, envelope prizes, music, dancing and a stein holding contest.
All silent auctions items can be previewed on the Kiwanis website.

Annual Holiday Parade

December 13, 2014 - 3:00pm Would you like to take part in the 3rd Annual Holiday Parade in South Lake Tahoe? Entries are now being accepted for this fun event which will take place on Saturday, December 13 at 3 p.m.
The parade route will begin at Ski Run Blvd and make it's way down Highway 50 to the Y.
All profits will go to the local food pantry, Christmas Cheer, who feeds approximately 1,000 families a month.
Families and businesses are welcome to participate for a fee of $50 per entry. Scout and school groups can participate for free though registration is still required.
